Why all this worry about the end?

This is a great, very informative thread. This can be much more than just a place to collect items. With a little care it can be a knowledge base, a resource to find out about a specific era of movie scores history. After all, the majority of the people visiting this site weren't alive in the mid-sixties and depend on resources like this thread to gather information and learn. So just keep it alive, update as necessary. Moreover, new stuff is being released all the time.

Out at the end of this month, for example: Digitmovies - Uccidete Johnny Ringo (CDDM274) by Pippo Caruso

..and this thread is a testimony how good and daring these scores were.
I wish we had more of these kind of beautiful melodic scores today.

I used the words the end just figuratively. There will be a lot more work!!!

Hey; they exist. They just don't come out of Hollywood. And the European Movie Production has fallen by the wayside a bit. But check out some of the Asian film music composers. Henry Lai, for example. Scores Ennio would have been happy with.
I love those Spaghetti Western scores. Probably because I grew into adulthood with them. But let's face it; some of the production values were simply awful. Part of the reason is of course technology, but it was also because of an attitude of cheap and cheerful. It was annoying in a way because it meant that good scores by Italian composers were regularly replaced with different scores for the US releases of those films. That was especially true for many of the so-called Peplum productions.

For those interested, I have added separately, as bonus, two tracks of �Una Colt In Pugno Al Diavolo�, inexplicably not contained in the CD by Beat label.
These are: The main theme instrumental, that I extracted from a compilation of Italian soundtracks, and the song sung by Mino Reitano that a friend collector of mine pulled from an old 45 rpm vinyl, cleaned electronically

Possibly not so strange, as vocal themes were often issued on a different label than the OST. The instrumental was likely the B-side.

For everybody who's interested in "Un Genio, Due Compari, Un Pollo": I've compared the new 2014 release (incl. "Sonny & Jed") with the 2001 Hexacord cd, which was also posted here. The new version has a much cleaner sound to my ears and more dynamics (seen on audacity). So it's a real upgrade to your collection and worth the download. As for "Sonny & Jed" - the sound is almost the same as the 2008 remaster.
