The first mp3 file I ever loaded onto my IPOD was a two volume compilation of some of my remasterings of favourite arrangements of overtures, dance music and ballets from musical films, most of which are generally not available commercially. All of the tracks except The Red Shoes Ballet (track 6) are from the actual film sound track pre-recordings. Since these albums have never existed in reality I cannot provide artwork but the track listings are reproduced below. Each volume is CD length. Some of these selections will possibly fill in gaps on existing soundtrack recordings you may already own and have enjoyed over the years and would like to hear the dance music in more complete versions. Other tracks from more obscure film musicals such as You Can't Run Away from It (a 1956 musical version of "It Happened One Night"), Invitation to the Dance & The Best Things in Life are Free may not be familiar but are really worth a listen. I ask, out of respect for the artists and musicians, that you use this download solely for your own personal enjoyment and please do not post the links on any other forum.

The time period for this share is ended.

The tracks in these two files are:
VOLUME ONE
01 RICHARD RODGERS: CAROUSEL Waltz (Film Version)
This is the never before released version of the complete prologue and waltz as heard in the film with barrel organ accompaniment.
02 ALEX NORTH: DADDY LONG LEGS Paris, Hong Kong, Rio Ballet Music
03 RICHARD RODGERS: JUMBO Roadshow Overture (1962 Film Version)
04 CY COLEMAN: SWEET CHARITY Overture (Film Version)
The longer version of the Overture and Main Title music as heard in the film.
05 CY COLEMAN: SWEET CHARITY Pompeii Club Dances (Film Version)

09 RICHARD RODGERS: PAL JOEY Overture & Strip (1957 Film Version)
10 IRVING BERLIN: OCARINA from Call Me Madam - Carole Richards, vocal (1953 Film Version)
11 DAVID HENEKER: HALF A SIXPENCE Overture (Film Version)
12 MUSIC: RAY HENDERSON - LYRICS: B.G. DeSYLVA & LEW BROWN
BIRTH OF THE BLUES BALLET from The Best Things in Life are Free (Gordon MacRae, vocal)

16 MUSIC: JULE STYNE & LYRICS: STEPHEN SONDHEIM
GYPSY Let Me Entertain You Complete Strip Montage (Film Version) Natalie Wood, vocal
Regardless of what you may think of the 1962 film of Gypsy, the virtuoso playing of the Warner Bros Studio Orchestra is so fantastic that it makes the typical Broadway pit orchestra sound anemic by comparison.
