"I don't want to interrupt you when you're getting a piece of wood. . . or whatever. . ."
"Ooh, switcher, you are one sick puppy! "
"I don't care if he puts a rubber glove on his head, and runs through the store, screaming, 'I'm a squid!' "

SYNOPSIS
Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall star in this comic farce about a stock boy who falls in love with a department store mannequin that is actually an ancient Egyptian princess.
McCarthy plays Jonathan, a hapless stooge who can't seem to hold on to a job, or his girlfriends.
He finally lands a job at a Philadelphia department store, Prince & Co. At the store, he meets a collection of wacky characters, including belligerently gay window designer Hollywood (Meshach Taylor), cool and scheming store manager Richards (James Spader), and Felix (G.W. Bailey), a fascistic security guard.
And of course, there is Emmy (Kim Cattrall), the Egyptian princess / window Mannequin.
Jonathan, with the help of Emmy, concocts eye-catching window displays that draw the customers to Prince & Co.

SOUNDTRACK
Sylvester Levay scored "Mannequin" with 80's Techno Pop tunes which are bright and exciting. "Making Baloons", "Store Window", "Oh Yes Hot Smoking", "Movin On Up", "Harley Ride" and "Saving Emmy" are great examples of his catchy style.
Rounding out the score is a recurring motif used by Levay throughout this film.
The piano tracks, "Jonathan's Theme" and "Emmy's Theme" are very touching and further enhance the interaction between McCarthy and Cattrall.
And let's not forget the Pop tunes; they don't disappoint either.
Throw in Belinda Carlisle's "In My Wildest Dreams", Alisha's "Do You Dream About Me",
The Temptations "My Girl" and Starship's #1 smash "Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now" and you have an unforgetable 80's experience.
I'm surprised that this soundtrack has never been release commercially.
Further, the movie itself has only been released in 2.0 stereo.
Using "Vocal Removal" software, I was able to isolate the score hidden under the dialogue and effects.
A few tracks still contain some background noise (such as "Flambe Terrorist") and due to the nature of this removal software, some of these artifacts (sounding like squabling) couldn't be removed. All in all, I hope you find this soundtrack enjoyable.
