I don't know, is it just me or did Wakka pick the dumbest name for his kid... I thought it was gonna be a good name than I heard the name Vidina... isn't that like a girls name? who thinks they can think of a better name???

The game seems to indicate that it has some special significance. I think maybe it was the name of one of Wakka's parents. It certainly sounds a lot like the other names, i.e. Wakka and Chappu.

nah, that guy's right it does mean future, because you take FUTURE as the english word and change it to Vidina in Al Bhed, what u did was take Vidina, as the English translation and changed it to Jetehy as the Al Bhed Translation, than you got confused because Jetehy looks more Al Bhed than Vidina. but ya I didn't quite catch that significance thanx for the heads up on that. but it still sounds like a girls name.

It does mean future. If u go back to the celsius after getting Episode Complete in Besaid, Paine sez summat like:

"Vidina... Wakka's thinking ahead"

i noticed that the people in besaid mostly have names ending in the letter 'a' like wakka, botta, keepa, vidina, yuna... ^_^

Well, I wouldn't say it's necessary unique to Besaid. There's also Dona, as well as Gatta from the original game. Actually, I'm not sure if Gatta was native to Besaid or not. And then there's Trema also. And then Yuna, she isn't really native to Besaid, she's actually from Bevelle. Where you also have Maester Mika for that matter. Hmm... I guess there are a lot of people from FFX and X-2 with names ending in "A" period.

I thought it was a nice name. Its also nice that it's in Al Bhed, showing that Wakka doesn't judge people by their race or homes anymore, which is good :) It was really nice in FFX when he finally decided he liked Rikku. That was a lovely scene.

maybe its the only name that was al bhed and made sense in english. its probably hard to come up when they dedcided to make it al bhed

From what I think I can make out of your question, the answer is that just because they were killed when he was young doesn't mean that he doesn't even know their names... duh.

Secondly, if you'd paid more attention to the rest of the thread, you'd have noticed I'd said that before somebody pointed out that the name actually translates to "Future" and therefore is probably not the same as one of Wakka's parents.

There a two random names for the baby I have heard:

- Vidina
- Vidinu

Both dumb!!!

Vidina is a lovely name - for a girl. Dunno, it just sounds like a girls name. Still I respect Wakka's deciscion, besides - as mentioned earlier by several people - it means Future. Didn't come to that before I saw this thread though

because they are common names. yuna tidus wakka etc are not common names. Well, not where i live anyway!

I was supprised by this dumb name too. A lot of suspense is bulit up but then when the time for the name finally comes it crubles into the gutter. Kinda sums up FF10-2 in my opinion to that.

lol i missed some parts of the game and he asked yuna for help on the baby's name something either that or he couldn't decide..cant really remember , but my sister got all the parts and the baby was name Vidina..vidina reminds me of vegeta from dragon ball z..lol dunno y

The name Vegeta, yea it is pretty similer although i strongly doubt that there is any connection between the two.

Unless Square Enix has made a secret pact with Dragon ball there is no way vidina has some relationship with vegeta, psira people are not sayians, this make me think Gohan in the cell games looks just like cloud, i even thought that they where the same person before playing FF VII
Vidina is a horrible name, wakka sould have called his son something more unique like setzer. And maybe SE would make FFX-3 having setzer as main character

Vidina. Its a good girl name, yeah. But way too insightful for Wakka. His way of thinking limits him to: Wakka Jr., Chappu II, Lolo, Bobba, Bubba, or 'Ey, Kid.'

I really thought that he would've named him Chappu..it seems more fitting. i mean, he watches the sphere and is like "i got it!" and then he names it some weird random name that doesn't make sense(i know that it means future). and since when did Wakka know Al Bhed??

but the reason he gets the name vadina after watching the sphere is because his brother did that in the past but wakka neded to look to the future the way his brother did when he joined the crusaiders
