I'm playing it right now but I haven't finished it. I'm near the end though...maybe I could get back to you.
But if you don't already have them, I know the bunny shoes can be very handy. Perhaps if you get an item creation guide you could make yourself some sweet equipment and items. But really, in RPGs, the case is that nothing beats good old fashioned levelling.

2 ways to get bunny shoes:
You can pickpocket ONE pair from the guy in the bunny suit, near the bunny races, in Fun City. But save beforehand, have a nice high pickpocket level, magicians gloves etc.
THe other way is to keep at the Bunny Races in fun city and keep betting to win the Bunny shoes til you get enough of em. It takes a good while so find some good music or something...
I beat the game, It's not that hard...
:notgood:
It's really too bad you can't figure it out...

I wouldn't recommend going into the Hidden D. unless you have 2 Bunny Shoes (2 for Melee, the other 2 for long distance and healing)
You could get the shoes in the Hidden D... but I doubt you would really survive.

I survived in the hidden dungeon without bunny shoes, not that hard to do. the hard part is playing through the entire dungeon without gettting bored.

Hehe. Just so you know, the last boss gets stronger if you go in the hidden dungeon. Also, the hidden monster is infinitely harder than the normal last boss... you can cheat with gameshark and still get owned...

so it does get better?? I'll have to start it back up. I got bored trying to get through this one cave next to a town. I was trying to get some herbs or something like that. I think i was really under-levelled too.

I think Star Ocean can be a little hard to get into but once you're on the 2nd disc it starts getting a lot better, not so slow moving.
Anyways, I actually finished it last night! Woo! I used Claude, Rena, Ashton and Precis all around Lvl 94 and totally owned the final boss. :D I say bring on the increased difficulty after doing the Cave of Trials. :p
So now, I'm doing the Cave of Trials. Just about to fight the boss on the first level. It's all good.
ok, where in the hell are the Dungeons.....???

Ok, by dungeons I assume you mean the Cave of Trials.
Basically, you have to get to the final save point just before the End Boss, Indalecio (I think). Save there and then head aaaaaall the way back out of that place and back to the world map.
Head on over to Fun City and into the Fighting Arena thingy place. Move around the the back of the arena and look around. There should be a 'mysterious looking man' standing around. He will say something about taking you to see past memories. Say yes to him twice and BOOM you're back on Expel.
Now, head out of the town and your blocky lookin Synard will be waiting there. Jump on him and head towards the desert island you couldnt reach before, in the lower west part of the map. Look around and you'll see a cave on it. That is the Cave of Trials. :)
Phew, so there you go. I hope I got that all right.

i only got the game the other day, so i have no idea what you're talking about. :p

Actually, the last boss doesn't get any harder after you go to the Cave of Trials. You have to do a Private Event (or whatever they're called) at Central City (the first town on Nede) and talk to someone and answer a certain way to make the last boss become harder.
Only Level 94, Bigfoot? After going to the CoT a few times and beating the Survival Battle a few times, Claude was at Level 200-something and everyone else was at, like, Level 120-150. Even then, on the boss towards the bottom of the CoT, I still get killed even though I have the best armor and weapons.

Well, I'm only on the first level of CoT...not right at the end boss or anything. And Im now level 102.
But I'm kinda getting sick of this game now. Might play it some other time...but not any time soon.

I don't know how far i got really, it's all a bit odd. You rarely have a clue where you're going after you reach a certain point, you don't know hwo to get the characters, the battle system is sloppy and seems unfinished and the plot just lost me completely . . . help

Well, after playing a Rena file through on Regular mode ( I got the extra battle modes) I would say the game is quite challenging, regular mode is easy, I beat indelecio without limiter taken off... then I went to the Cave of Trials and WATLZED through there no prob... Celesta was easy... didnt do much... my party on that file is
Claude- LvL180
Rena- Lvl179
Celine- Lvl 169
Dias- Lvl 178
I have to say, Claude and Dias OWN with Mirror slice and Illusion, they gang banged Indelecio... but I went back after beating the cave of trials, didnt use celine, used a lvl 70 Opera for laughs, cuz I forgot the limiter was taken off... he whopped my ass, did a spell off the bat that did 9999 to everyone sept Dias, who had 1HP... bizotch....
Now im working on a universe difficulty file... Rena file at that... would you believe it took me 4 or 5 trys to win my first battle, tis fricking HARD... that file is gonna be tight though, gonna have claude, rena, ashton and dias... I can see it now, Mirror Slice, Sword Dance and Illusion... man oh man, pure POWER!!!
Bunny shoes. Yay. They love you. You love them. They are your best friend. You need them.
I prefer using Ripper Blast over Mirror Slice...
Does anyone have Mirror Slice at 999 proficiency? If so, how effective is it? I use Ripper Blast because it doesn't have to be performed at close range, and even at a long distance can hit several times for 9999 provided your Claude is strong enough.
I love the challenge this game provides when it comes to battles, but as Lionheart said it does seem a little sloppy at times. The worst part of it all is how the game locks up sometimes, causing you to have to start from your latest save. Kinda like a unofficial gameover, and it tends to happen to me alot just after a battle. CoT doesn't have any save points that I know of, and it's no puny little cave either, so if your game happens to blank out in there of all places... (or the Synard Cave, for that matter..)
The story isn't all that great, but it's something that the gameplay somehow makes up for.

Yeah, I do have Claudes Mirror Slice Mastered... he hits 8-10 times in the same dance you see... its like Ashtons Sword Dance, less hits, but they all hit... its very useful... if you wanna go long range, I just use Dragon Howl... its semi weaker attack makes up in that its Speed is WONDERFUL... You can really rapid fire that bad boy, and I have it also at 999 proficency... (I have all caludes Killer Moves mastered) And it hits more and does good damage (5000- 8000) Per hit... so its really nice, coupled with a fairy ring ( I LOVE THAT THING) and bunny shoes, WONDERFUL!!! (THen again, there are like the valiant boots/valkereye boots, much better than bunny shoes... its all very handy indeed... then again, I have claude restoring 200+ MP after every battle (At lvl180 no less) SO really, with 999 MP and 21 MP per use... I dont need a half MP cut... just give him either Tri Emblem/Angel Arm Band and Sturm ring... and he is GUARENTEED to hit 9999 each time, with Holy Swordfarwell, give Dias Levantine... to make up for his weaker hit... both have strength around 4500 its WONDERFUL!
