because I live in Philadelphia and ALL THEY PLAY HERE IS HARDCORE.
The point of this thread is that tonight I was seeing the Blood Brothers & Against Me in Philli. I dunno if anyone here is really familiar with them but to be honest it's kind of an odd combination. Against Me is anarcho-punk and the Blood Brothers are this really bizarre sort of twist on traditional hardcore. Anyway, the friends I went with were going mostly to see the Blood Brothers and I mostly wanted to see Against Me. I've been disappointed in their recent material but I'm a huge fan of their old songs and they played a lot of those tonight, so I was super super happy. I sang my fucking head off when they played "Baby, I'm An Anarchist," and on their last song I was one of the lucky fans who managed to shove my way up onto the stage and sing into the mic. Really really good times. One of their guitarists was playing a Rickenbacker, which was really awesome.
The openers were hardcore bands too, one of which was from Sweden. I wasn't all that into them but I moshed for them (I sat out for Blood Brothers because I was totally spent from Against Me) and now I'm a little sore. Crowd surfers are fucking idiots and I hate them.
