In this 1992 TV adaptation of the classic Jack London novel, a young boy heads off to the Yukon in search of gold and along the way befriends a local Native American and a mistreated dog. After a series of adventures, the boy stakes a claim on an abandoned mine where he finds not only gold but, in the process, his manhood. Composer Lee Holdridge wrote a wonderful action-adventure score for full orchestra, with a choir added for those scenes of majesty and awe. His music snagged an Emmy nomination, but was never commercially released. Luckily it found its way onto this promo from the Prometheus label.
