How do you know if the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack/Score you bought will be be worth something later in years?

Depends mostly on how many copies were made, and if there's anything special about it that makes it stand out from other editions of the soundtrack. For instance, a first edition copy of La-La-Land's Batman: The Animated Series: Volume One might be worth a lot later because it has a couple extra tracks not present on later editions.

The economics have changed dramatically since the advent of digital downloads. There are FAR fewer people that collect albums now. Before, it was the primary way to access music on a track. Want to hear that one song on that one album from the 60s? YouTube search and boom. There it is. I would argue there will ALWAYS be **some** type of market for the value of a CD or a record, but not anywhere what it used to be.

I had no clue when I ordered Transformers at F.Y.E. it would later go out of print. I got lucky with that, I guess.
But I would also have to agree that it depends on the number of discs that were pressed. That, and what's included.
