I was browsing around, noticed after user "Nicola" got banned after his/her attacks in my 'Jumanji' thread a short time ago, that he/she was back posting a thread for a score soon afterward. I looked at Nicola's profile and it indeed said banned, but that seemed to be AFTER Nicola was able to make even more attacks on people.

So as the thread title asks, why ban someone just to welcome them back - unban them - then ban them again for the same behavior?

I'm only asking because while this person is on my ignore list (he/she isn't worth anyone's time) it is a bit confusing, no matter who the user is.

- Wouldn't it be somewhat unfair to ban a registered user, if he/she still has to break the board's rules? Regardless of his/her history, I mean. Every account is a chance at a clean slate. I guess that you'd have to be a real "nuisance" to earn the ban-on-sight order.
- Ways to permanently ban someone don't exist, simply put. Range-IP bans are more than likely to get "innocent" users caught in the crossfire.

The admin have temp banned members in the past, for repeated violations of the site's TOS...

Reminds me of Yo-yo, anyone ever play Yo-yo?, besides the banned people I mean. Ever play Slinky, Operation but with real people (I mean Doctor Nurse), Rubber Knife Fights, Dart Gun Battles? first one to lose an eye looses, eh heh, those were the days! What were we talking about again?

Nicola (and others) are temp banned, and after it is lifted, return. And repeat the behavior and get banned again. Jessie has said he is loathe to perma ban anyone, and so I imagine the transgressions have to be quite extreme. While Nicola's tirades are offensive, they are not really more so than some others that get posted. THOSE result in temp bans too, but not perma ones. So, everyone gets the same playing field, I suppose.

It's kinda like in High School, some thought it was cool to get a beaten from the principal or vice principal. This was in Southern Missouri, what do ya expect. The paddle had holes in it to make it smart (hurt) more. Ah those were the days. Glad there over. I miss playing with my slinky though! Are we allowed to play with our slinkys while on the Shrine? be really cool to ride dirt bike through here, but that probably would be a banning offense. That happened at our high school in Calif. in the day. always pulling pranks and stuff, tear up the school grounds with dune buggys and dirt bikes. Pie in the vice principal's face. I lost my slinky again.

They get banned for longer each time, so they'd end up being permabanned eventually.
