When I click on links at mega.co.nz, or oboom.com, it forwards to a page that says 'your browser ain't no good boy!'

https://mega.co.nz/update.html

I'm using Opera 12 because of ram usage.

So I open Chrome, version 23. Now it says 'download starting', but nothing ever happens.

Anyone have a clue as to why? And why does it matter anyway? You just need to click a link. IE 8 should be good enough for that.

Makes me wonder if they are harvesting data.

Try installing and running the Mega extension on Chrome.

But for Firefox you also get a plugin that works like a charm: https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/meganz/

---------- Post added at 08:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:28 AM ----------

But you have to be aware that you cannot set the download directory (at least for firefox). In my case, it stores al files on the desktop (not in the download directory set in Firefox).

Why not take the Firefox add-on directly off MEGA (https://mega.co.nz/#firefox)? It's official and it allows you to set a download directory.

I have firefox, and use mega easily. I have installed NO plug-in, and can always choose my directory. I never have issues...???

Both Chrome and Firefox I have the Mega extension enabled.

It makes no difference if you use it or not.
I've disabled it and downloaded just the same with or without the extension in both browsers.

Mega will download to temp. folder on your harddrive.
If you've congifugred your browser to store all your temp files on the RAM (like a RAMdisk), then it may never work.

Is it just one file or it all?

Try removing "blob:" from the beginning?
What is blob?

I've been seeing a lot of people post blob as part of their link.
When a link is accessed, it is changed. Blob is something from this transformation.

If you are using most recent versions of Firefox, now MEGA downloaded files are treated as a "blob resource" (to purposely avoid writing files using HTML5, something Chrome did when MEGA launched). Not sure if History might remember the "blob resource" address. However and from personal experience it either is a cached file or a link to an actual "process" that downloads the file as it should. Exiting Firefox does clear the "blob resource" link.

On older versions, probably a cached file, but that would also be deleted upon exit.
Taken from here: http://superuser.com/questions/594277/how-to-find-downloaded-files-location

@Orie: I've been getting that error myself, as of late; my guess is that it is a temporary hiccup/screw-up on MEGA's end, the issue disappears on its own here, I try loading the same page again and it eventually works.

there is no "blob" in the link.. and I have been days try to get some mega links...
I don't know where to get the blob or anything. it shows in that message like that, but the original link has no blob in it. :/

Mind that I'm not knowledgeable about this stuff, so I may very well be spewing crap, but taking into account the answer I quoted in my previous post, that blob resource seems a way for MEGA to cache the decrypted copy of the file, so that it can be downloaded by the user.

I've been getting that blob stuff since MEGA was launched. Firefox user here:

- Start to download a file;
- Wait for percentage on the MEGA page to reach 100%;
- Get prompted to pick where to save the file;
- Look into the web browser's download manager;
- Where is the file being download from? Blob resource.

Are there download managers that support MEGA, or the user is basically screwed into doing things "its" way?

I use chrome mainly for mega and other things. I can't see anything regarding downloading blob resource...

Yet it's part of the screen you have shared. On my end, "blob:" is at the start of what you could call the direct link to the file (cached or whatever).

At any rate, my question still stands: have you tried stuff like download managers (even external)? Or mega.nz is such a piece of crap that it wants everything to be done with its software/tools? EDIT: As far as mere access to one's account is concerned, is there any app which allows it? I do get advertisement about some kind of Mobile app (I think), from time to time, but I don't see much for Desktop.

JDownloader works on MEGA links.
Unless the link gets parsed by something else on the way.
Grabbing a link off Skype that will drop the first part of the link, makes it void and null.
You need to use "copy link" or something.

Sometimes OP might even just might visit the download page and copy the link there which doesn't work the same as copying the link from the account page.

Do the drives involved have sufficient free space?
If you're using a RamDisk and getting Chrome to store temp files there, that would do it.

Another thing worth noting is your Adobe flash plugin must be up to date.
