1) Check if your software is updated (WinRAR, WinZIP, 7-zip).
2a) Run "SpeedGuide's TCP Optimizer (
http://anonym.to/?http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php)"
2b) (top) "onnection speed", choose whatever (download) speed is promised by your ISP (25, 50, 100 are popular intervals)
2c) (in the middle) "Network Adapter Selection", choose your network card (be it internal or wireless card)
2d) (bottom) "Choose settings", choose "Default"
2e) "Apply" and reset your PC and then try again.
3) HARD reset your modem/router. A) Turn the PC off. B) Unplug the PC. C) unplug the modem/router. D) wait 5 whole minutes. E) plug modem/router in. F) plug PC in, turn and try again.
4) Download Topy's FLAC. It will be the same (quality, etc; names, tags, covers may differ, etc etc).
5) Hail Hydra.

This movie was such a rollercoaster ride, with beautiful, tender moments and many hilarious scenes.
Pure entertainment. :)
Oh, and: The music, both the score and the soundtrack, suited really well for this movie! The soundtrack may have songs from the 70s and the 80s, but the lyrics are kinda eternal. :p
From the score I especially got goosebumps by "The Ballad of the Nova Corps", so emotionally powerful! And also "Groot Spores". :)

Saw an early afternoon matinee today. I loved it. The 3D was pretty good for a conversion, the soundtrack worked so well ("The melody is kinda nice!!!"), Bates' score was great, the humor was spot-on ("I'm not going to fall for your pelvic sorcery"), and a good 2-hour running time. I hate it when a movie is under 2 hours.
Moving on. Scenes that were in Trailer 2 but removed from the final cut:

I'd like someone to tackle that along with the OST as well. I know it's 10cc's I'm Not in Love, then Bates' To the Stars, then Brian Tyler's new Marvel theme, then Redbone's Come and Get Your Love. After that, I would say it's Plasma Ball and Quill's Big Retreat
Actually, I'd love a film order of everything. OST / Score combined

Perhaps the blu-ray will have an isolated OST/score. I wonder if the deleted scenes DAK highlighted were bits that didn't make it into the film or shot specifically for the trailers? Marvel has never, to my knowledge, released a longer director's cut of any of their films but I think GOTG would warrant extra attention.
BTW, GOTG opened to $94 million, biggest box office ever for an August film and some projections have it earning $300 million during its run in the theaters, which would top this year's CA:TWS.
My top three Marvel films:
3: Avengers
2: GOTG
1: CA:TWS
DAKoftheOTA

I doubt it would. I feel like isolated scores as a special feature are slowly dying out. If you ask me, we got lucky with Oblivion.
I saw that Variety article earlier, but I'm waiting until tomorrow night when all estimates are in and they announce the total. It's coming awfully close to $100 mil, which Paramount claims T4 grossed opening weekend. However, there were reports that those numbers were falsified by Paramount and that it was not possible. So if that's true and this does cross the $100 mil mark, it'll be the first film of 2014 to do so.

It sucks there's too many politics and union-dues for creating isolated scores.
We could have had iso for Tron: Legacy with Trapanese, but Daft Punk said no.
Thank god for the complete stuff we got, we don't need to support DP anymore. :smrt:
I think Indie composers would likely have way more flexibility to create iso scores.
John Carpenter likes to have them, with the exception of "Prince of Darkness", IIRC.

About baby Groot dancing right before the credits roll, James Gunn says that was his idea and that it was also in the script. "Litte spoiler for the audience, that tree dancing is me," the director revealed. "I'm not motion-captured, but I'm motion-referenced and that is 100% me dancing... Honestly, that [scene] was supposed to be either mid-credits or end-credits, but when we showed it to the test audience, they loved it so much! We were like 'We don't want people walking out and missing this this,' so we put it right there after the 'Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return' thing."

In a summer where the movies were more fizzle then sizzle, GOTG, true to their nature, saved the day. Gunn and his team showed Hollywood how to make a big, loud, colorful, emotional (tell me Groot's "We are Groot", the laying of hands climax - calling back to Peter's mother, Quill's declaration "We're the Guardians of the Galaxy!", Rocket crying over his friend's sacrifice and the Drax's clumsy but sincere attempt to comfort Rocket (and the gnarled little beast's stunned reaction and then acceptance of Drax's concern, didn't get to you. Got to me and my heart is three sizes too small.) summer movie without dumbing it down. (Hello, ASM-2 and Transformers.)
Interesting how two of Marvel's best films Avengers and GOTG were done by guys who started their careers in movies as writers for the screen. It all starts with words because if it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage.

So if that's true and this does cross the $100 mil mark, it'll be the first film of 2014 to do so.
If said falsification did indeed occur, it'd be a very boneheaded move on Paramount's part. One, it would make all their future claims less credible (that old story about the boy who cried wolf is an old story a reason); and two, using those figures for business purposes opens them up to a variety of charges... So you have to wonder, who there would think it's a good idea?
On another note... that's a good way of putting it, Killgrave. The very last sentence is quite T-shirt/.sig/etc.-worthy.

I know what you mean. I was reading a history of the American Civil War and my buddy Jason spoiled it by telling me the North won.
Wasn't the point.
Your argument is way off base on that one.
It would be apt if you said that in a thread about Star Wars and Darth Vader being
Luke's father.
aka, "A New Hope" being an ancient movie compared to GoTG...
see where I'm going with this?
I bet if I stick around this thread long enough, I wouldn't need to see the movie and/or support it in any fashion.
I notice spoilers are no big thing. To the ones who already saw it.
The heightened self-gratification of seeing it before everyone else, and also knowing that your peers that you respect a lot whom have also seen the film, really just does turn this place into a good ol' fashioned internet place.
I just had someone swear at me for teaching them how to use spoilers.
This particular thread is sounding more and more like a gaming community.
I've had my fair share of gaming communities that are actually relentless, blood-thirsty monsters.
Just because you watched, doesn't mean everyone else has.
Nor does it mean that those who have not watched is any less important.
Granted that the track names are spoilery, doesn't mean every single detail about the movie needs to be spoilered.
That's what social sites are for.
DAKoftheOTA
08-07-2014, 01:11 AM
This is my thread. If can jump in here, I would have preferred spoilers regarding Howard the duck being in the post credits scene
Yes, this is a social site. But it wouldn't kill someone to put something like that in a spoiler tag. It's a damn Marvel movie. No one wants to know, everyone wants to go in surprised. Now I didn't care that I saw that spoiler before I saw the film on Saturday, because 1.) I thought it was the stupidest post-credits scene yet, and 2.) I had no clue what it was. But clearly other people knew of it, and they were not happy. Notice how I put spoiler tags around the shots I noticed were absent from the film after seeing the trailers? I didn't want to ruin it for anyone. But whatever, I think by now either most people in this thread have either seen the film or the spoiler.

You need to add Brian Tyler's "Marvel Studios Fanfare" (from Thor The Dark World soundtrack) at #3.
No no, I was talking about the songs, not the score. Thanks for the chronological order of the score, though
And for everyone else anticipating the next release of GotG, here's a little tease. Listen closely ;)

Here's the score and songs in the order they played in the film according to the FSM board. And please no requests for FLAC, NUTSACK, APE, CHIMP, MP3, IED, IOU, CSI, NCIS or any audio coding format. This, in the immortal words of Kenny Loggins, is it.

This is SOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING COOL, DAK!!! I'm just curious about something. On page 1, you show an "*" by "Spirit in the Sky" and it says below "Not in the film", but I remember hearing this song in a part of the film!!! I'm trying to download a Russian DVD copy of the movie right now, and I'll let you know exactly where in the film it was!
Thanks for everything else, DUDE!!! :D

Trust me, it's not. I would know. Spirit in the Sky always has been, and always will be one of my favorite songs ever. I saw GotG twice, it's simply not in the film. A huge let-down, I know. It is what it is. But like TheSkeletonMan said, it was in the final theatrical trailer.

There is no Awesome Mix, vol. 2. In the film, every single song is on vol. 1 with the exception of Ain't No Mountain High Enough, O-o-h Child and I Want You Back. Those are the last three songs in the film after Quill opens the present and finds it's vol. 2

Ain't No Mountain High Enough - when Quill opens the present and finds out it's Awesome Mix, vol. 2
O-o-h Child - The Milano crashes and Quill starts dancing/singing it in front of Ronan to distract him
I Want You Back - The Guardians of the Galaxy take off in The Milano / baby Groot dances with Drax watching in suspicion

Player, damn good choice. Perfect. Had Suzi Quatro on my list but went with Joan. (Interviewed her. True rock and rock personality. Nothing boring about her. BTW, she's left handed.)
And it looks like the GOTG Blu-ray hits the shelves in December. I hope Disney/Marvel crafts one hell of a deluxe package for this one. Either way I'm putting in my pre-order as soon as it pops on Amazon. (I want a dancing Groot as part of a deluxe package.)
One more song for the playlist:
ELO - Twilight

Even if Marvel hadn't announced a sequel before the movie opened, which it did, the fact that so far in 2014 it is the only film to reach $300 million in the U.S. would be enough to warrant a sequel.

I just saw the movie (finally).
And, I can say with confidence, there will never be a volume 2 (at least, until the second film comes out).
It's a storyline spoiler and also "vol 1" for the naming convention of the variable artists soundtrack album is largely a sales tactic.
People would buy it if it was heavily more relatable to the film.
Just calling it "music from and inspired" by isn't nearly as inspiring as going by a title that's seen in through the film.
Also buying a cassette version is also a neat marketing ploy.
Speaking of marketing ploys, incentives and gimmicks, not surprised the IMAX version is availably only in 3D BD.
Buy it so you can be like Quill, pretend it's a movie prop, keep it for collector's sake, dive into nostalgia (if you're old enough).
Good movie, awesome soundtrack, both the various artists and score by Tyler Bates.
Speaking of marketing ploys, incentives and gimmicks: not surprised that the IMAX version is only available in 3D BD.
The film was shot with IMAX cameras (some scenes) and largely designed to be presented in 3D.
Just like with Transformers: Age of Extinction, watching it at home should be as close as possible to have had watching it theaters, IMAX + 3D.
They should release IMAX films in 2D IMAX, but since everyone hates it, it's left only for the 3D discs since everyone hates 3D and that's the way the film was meant to be seen.
But watching the 3D version at home as 2D just for the IMAX ins't great because since 3D is processed differently, it needs to be remastered in different luminescence levels and color timings than the normal 2D conventional couterpart.
And it's mostly always cropped and shifted offscreen to allow for a 3D parallax for home 3D devices. There's always going to be parts of the movie where about 8-36 pixels are cropped off the left margin.
IMAX is now a gimmick since it's shifting towards a single-sided coin where you can only see it in theaters.
We'll have to wait for them to re-release the bluray in 2D IMAX with Dolby Atmos, just like they did with Star Trek: Into Darkness (minus the Atmos extension).

Was going through the Blu-Ray extras and in the Gag Reel (bloopers), there's a scene of the Kyln guard (the one who's listening to "Hooked on a Feeling" song on Star-Lord's Walkman) listening to another song that is not on the soundtrack, the Awesome Mix #1.
The song is Pilot's "Magic", a catchy classic from 1974.

James Gunn went on Facebook to let us know the original playlist of "Awesome Mix #1",
and here it is (asterisk ones were discarded):
I’m Not in Love - 10cc
Come and Get Your Love – Redbone
Go All the Way – Raspberries
*Never Been to Spain – Three Dog Night
Hooked on a Feeling – Blue Swede
*Magic - Pilot
The Pina Colada Song – Rupert Holmes
*Livin’ Thing – Electric Light Orchestra
Moonage Daydream - David Bowie
Fooled Around and Fell in Love – Elvin Bishop
*Fox on the Run - The Sweet
Cherry Bomb – The Runaways
Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum
O-O-H Child – Five Stairsteps
*Surrender – Cheap Trick
The first cut of the movie had the above songs, but he obviously made editorial changes,
and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and I Want You Back are both from "Awesome Mix #2".

So, while listening to the track "Groot Spores", I noticed that it reminded me of some classical piece that I heard long time ago.
Now I have found this track! :)
Now, before I post the links here, I would also like to say that the GotG score reminds me sometimes of The Fifth Element (by Eric Serra); like, "Ronan's Theme"(or Ronan's Arrival) reminds me of "Mangalores or "Mondoshawan".
Even though The Fifth Element isn't the greatest movie I've ever seen (I mean, GotG is a solid movie compared to TFE), it has a light, entertaining feel to it. Like GotG, it shows a world that is "used", not all glossy etc. Both movies have a deep meaning to it, like friendship(GotG) and Love (TFE), and they don't take themselves too seriously. I can honestly see similarities between them, even though they are somewhat different..
Now, to wrap it up, I found the track that I was looking for: the song that reminded me of a classical piece while listening to "Groot Spores".
Here is "Groot Spores":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UZtPBWLxw8
Here is "Claire de Lune" (originally composed by Claude Debussy) by Isao Tomita (also featured in Ocean's 13)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL7HcWIyFes
Do you hear the similarities, too? :)

Yeah, I just, I don't know, think that maybe Tyler Bates listened to Claire de Lune when making Groot Spores, because I kinda get the same vibe from both of them. Maybe it's the same key or mood or certain elements that both tracks uses. It's got that "wonderous", magical feel to it..
I don't know, maybe you're right, maybe it's odd ;)
DAKoftheOTA
01-31-2015, 07:17 PM
Ya I don't hear any similarities at all. My favorite version of the piece is the one used in the beginning of The Purge
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0lcdgDCytA
Also, I have not seen Ocean's 13, but I think you meant to say that Claire de Lune is played at the end of Ocean's 11

Yeah, there's something about using beautiful, classical pieces for images that's violent. It's really has that disturbing feeling to it.
But yeah, Claire de Lune also plays on O'13. If you liked O'11, you should check it out. :)
