misleading title, unattractive cover, but wait, this is how real gems escape your notice sometimes.
after stumbling upon this music i had to piece together the info from different sources.the cover is included.
loop-like rhythmical basic grooves give the instruments on top a lot of space for extended modal improvisation.
although the greek origin of the musicians is obvious at times, the association the music triggers ranges from jan garbarek to taraf de haidouks.
no soundtrack at all,yet this music may create a movie in your mind after listening to it a couple of times.
way too good to be ignored!

Thank you, lashlarue, for this CD which was released by the Greek label "Lyra".
We shouldn't forget that modal music is based on a system of eight modes devised by the ancient Greeks.
Jan Garbarek has collaborated many times with Eleni Karaindrou and other Greek musicians in the last 30 years
and his sound is very popular in Greece.
