My wonky rip.
I saw a 2013 restoration of this silent film. The newly found footage allowed for using nearly the complete score discovered after the composer's death. Nina Goslar, Frank Strobel, and many more, who also worked on the reconstruction of the Metropolis and Die Nibelungen scores by Gottfried Huppertz, worked on that project. They discussed whether or not to keep the "Salonorchester" ensemble size used for the previous found cut of the film. Eventually, they agreed to use a bigger orchestra than before. Some audiences familiar with the recordings with small orchestra ("Salonorchester") found the new bigger sound 'annoying' and 'too much Hollywood film music like'. Since the new recording is only available on DVD, I've looked for the older recordings...here's one.
