Wow! Completely unexpected.
Great Jerry Goldsmith score - especially in complete form / presentation of recording sessions.
As usually Goldsmith scores in expanded or complete form work much better
and sound more fleshed out.
The reason for this that Goldsmith always developed his primary themes (real music motifs, no ambient scoring as usual practice today)
and then throughout the score expands and brings variations of these themes.
This always brought some sort of cohesion to his scores - so in expanded / complete form it never wents dull
but in opposite get's more richer ...
Unfortunately this is an artform in film music which is gone by now as it dies with those veteran "silver age" composers.
Today's style goes the ambient scoring direction (Media Venture style) with no real thematic development - what a mess ...

Michael Giacchino, John Williams, John Ottman, Douglas Pipes and a handful of other notables are attempting to keep the spirit of Goldsmith alive in their music. I show tribute to them all in my Blood Wings Sinfonia symphony projects. If you haven't heard them, you should. In the end it may not be your cup of tea but you can't deny that some of the choices were pretty good. I used some Jack the Giant Killer by Ottman which borrowed from Goldsmith's "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" segment on Twilight Zone: The Movie (confirmed by Ottman himself; I originally mistook it for Silvestri's Death Becomes Her but Ottman mentioned that Silvestri borrowed that from Goldsmith as well).

I'm slowly working my way in. One toe at a time.

I really can't thank you enough for this upload, scorepranos. Tidbits of the score I've wanted for a long time, the outstanding quality of the music. "First Time" is one of my favorite pieces of Goldsmith music - being an adventurous sort of person, it's always struck a resonant chord. To now have it in such stunning, vibrant quality is quite literally enough to bring a tear to my eye.
