Wow, awesome.
Thanks for the hard work getting clean rips of (most of) these tracks.

I don't suppose I could bother you for a 320kbs MP3 version, though? :)

DAC? Awesome. It's better than a standard .... idk what you call those cables, but like the old ones you connect PC speakers from (usually with light green ends). The point is, analog = white noise. But DAC (I assume which stands for digital audio connector or something) = no (or at least very little) white noise. And trust me, the GamePad produces a LOT of white noise (when listening to it through headphones or something). Also, currently, the eShop music as of writing this, is the Mario Kart TV theme, however I don't have any digital audio output cables of any form.

Also, you only included one variation of the Menu Themes. Is it possible to get the other variations?

Digital to Audio Converter. I use one as an external soundcard on my laptop, although the one I use to rip with is not as good as the one I use for listening (which has no inputs for recording). Still, it's better than a 1/8" plug in the microphone jack.

I feel like I must be missing something because I just checked the eShop again and, while I recognize the "Mario Kart" theme in the track that's playing, the music is definitely not the same track in my Mario Kart TV menu and is much more mellow. Could this be a regional thing? I'm in Ohio.

As far as other variations of the menu music is concerned, I haven't really noticed any. I know there's more to the "Online Menu" because I heard it when I was exploring that aspect of the game to rip, but complications from the sound effects of the other players messaging, not to mention having to hold up the room to record the music, caused me to abandon that. My focus thus far was mostly in getting the main music and the tracks, but if you can be more specific I can see what I can do. I might need a couple of days away from the game though.

Thank you ^^

Mario Circuit is my favourite track and sounded so awesome ever since I heard it in the E3 trailer (it's slightly different version there) - I even used it as an alarm back then.
One thing that is a bit of a downer for MK8's music to me is how it's all 1-minute loops.

BTW "04 Mario Kart Stadum.flac" should be "04 Mario Kart Stadium.flac", just a quick rename I did anyway.

Thanks once again!

Is there any possibility of getting the alternate song for the tracks? Like Cloudtop Cruise, Dolphin Shoals, etc.?

Just out of curiosity, why did you rip from the gamepad instead of the analog out on the back of the console? The audio has been re-compressed to send it to the gamepad and the amp in the gamepad is quite noisy. I certainly wouldn't expect you to re-rip the whole game, I'm just curious as to your reasoning.

Thanks!

Not sure to what you're referring. If you mean how the music changes during the gameplay, the answer is no, because there is no way to rip it without all of the sound effects that I am aware of. The result wouldn't be worth the effort.

I don't have any analog out on the back of my console; I see where there is a connection to attach component cables, of which I have none because I use an HDMI cable. The GamePad seemed the most direct and accessible option to me, and while I noticed white noise it did not seem particularly egregious, and after the noise reduction I don't hear any. I was not aware that the GamePad compressed audio, although looking it up for myself it seems that this is not always the case. I have to route the HDMI through my television so I currently can only get stereo output from the WiiU anyway, and after reading your comment I did a test rip of the title screen by using RCA cables into my DAC. There was less noise in the raw signal, but the spectrogram had frequencies peaking at the same range as my GamePad rip, around 21kHz, and there was little to no audible difference after matching volume. There may be an extremely slight improvement if everything were re-ripped in this way because of less noise impeding the signal, but it doesn't appear to be worth pursuing.

Hopefully the big N will announce an album soon.

Looks like you're right - the gamepad currently streams raw audio, which is good. The analog audio connectors come along with the component or composite video/audio cables, but obviously it's not worth re-ripping the whole game all over again. If you do any future rips, you could go with this method so that you're removing one more element of noise from the source to your PC. Thanks so much for all your hard work on this, it really does sound great.

That is indeed what I'm referring to. But if this video is any indication, it is indeed possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDjawLDziJQ

That video is very interesting. Unfortunately my life got exponentially more crazy this past week and I seriously doubt I'm going to have time for at least a couple of months to figure this out. :(

As for song #3, wouldn't another GP work better? Maybe the one with Dry Dry Desert as an example, because idling engine sound alone is still better than having a bunch of Toad's sexing in the background. :P
