This is another restoration project I've been waiting to do for a while now. This project as usual is to restore and remove the
recording's glitches, bad or worn spots and to bring new life to the sound of the recording. Please let me know what you think,
positive or negative. And I ask to keep intact the tag info so everyone knows where the set came from. Likes and Reputation
Points are very appreciated. I hope you enjoy this set as I have and thanks for downloading.

Yes, which reminds me:
Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Chief. We was comin' back from the island of Tinian to Leyte... just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in twelve minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Tiger. Thirteen footer. You know, you know that when you're in the water, chief? You tell by lookin' from the dorsal to the tail. Well, we didn't know. 'Cause our bomb mission had been so secret, no distress signal had been sent, huh. They didn't even list us overdue for a week. Very first light, chief. The sharks come cruisin'. So we formed ourselves into tight groups. You know it's... kinda like 'ol squares in battle like uh, you see on a calendar, like the battle of Waterloo. And the idea was, the shark goes to the nearest man and then he'd start poundin' and hollerin' and screamin' and sometimes the shark would go away. Sometimes he wouldn't go away. Sometimes that shark, he looks right into you. Right into your eyes. You know the thing about a shark, he's got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin' and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin' they all come in and rip you to pieces. Y'know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men! I don't know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don't know how many men, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday mornin' chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland. Baseball player, Bosun's Mate. I thought he was asleep, reached over to wake him up. Bobbed up and down in the water, just like a kinda top. Up ended. Well... he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us, he swung in low and he saw us. He's a young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper, anyway he saw us and come in low. And three hours later a big fat PBY comes down and start to pick us up. You know that was the time I was most frightened? Waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went in the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out, the sharks took the rest, June the 29, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb.

I dumped them for lack of space as there's no advantage sound wise, unless you're a Bat. 24-bit 48khz is more than needed for the Human ear. I don't know why you would want them other than to profit from them.

You can hear above 22,000hz macdev? You can hear the difference in the files maybe, but Humans can't hear above 21,000hz and very few at that, most hear from 16,000 to 18,000hz if they have good hearing, But hearing the difference in a
48,000 and 96,000hz files only means the amplitude of the mix is different. 192,000 is just a waste of space unless your storing a file for later mastering. I myself would store 96,000 for archiving, but when I reduce to 48,000 I can't tell the difference
when properly down sampled. But hey, each to his own.
macdev
05-27-2014, 05:12 AM
You can tell the difference between a 48 and a 96, but not really tell between a 96 and 192. It's not about hearing the frequencies, it's more about the harmonics. You get a good system and you'll be able to hear it.
Spectre8750
05-27-2014, 05:28 AM
I don't know, I'm a Sound Engineer and I'm pretty sure frequency, resolution and amplitude is the source of your harmonics, which if I remember correctly means nothing to the human ear above audible range. I guess if you have some Sound system made for bats, that's cool.

In order to capture audio covering the entire 20–20,000 Hz range of human hearing, audio waveforms are typically sampled at 44.1 kHz (CD), 48 kHz (professional audio), 88.2 kHz, or 96 kHz. The approximately double-rate requirement is a consequence of the Nyquist theorem. Sampling rates higher than about 50 kHz to 60 kHz cannot supply more usable information for human listeners.
There has been an industry trend towards sampling rates well beyond the basic requirements: such as 96 kHz and even 192 kHz. This is in contrast with laboratory experiments, which have failed to show that ultrasonic frequencies are audible to human observers; However in some cases ultrasonic sounds do interact with and modulate the audible part of the frequency spectrum (intermodulation distortion). But intermodulation distortion is not present in the live audio and so it represents an artificial coloration to the live sound.

What a nice attitude, and I've read it. It talks about proper sampling and filtering, nothing about bat people hearing above 21,000hz. I listen to different sample rates all day, and if properly down sampled from 192khz or 96khz to a 24-bit 48khz sample you can't hear the difference. If you're wanting to manipulate then high sample rates give you better range or room to master with. I'm sorry, but I don't have the 192khz files anymore. They were up-sampled anyway for mastering, I down sampled them and saved them. Sorry. And if hdtracks wants to sell 352khz files and people want them super. I have no need for playing music to attract or bother the local wildlife. It's not a big deal anyway, and I do understand that getting a high sample rate is great, that way you can down sample and properly dither rather than taking someone else's. That said, either it sounds good or not. take it or leave it. I refer to soundtrekker's comment in post#47.

I wasn't accusing You of that, It was a rhetorical statement that those sample rates are for mastering by companies who sell music. It's cool man, settle down a little. Thanks all. Some stuff I've done was up-sampled from CD, some from ADAT Tape (16-bit~44.1 and 48kHz) (20-bit~48kHz), ADAT Hard Drive systems from a ways back, sometimes LP's and Reel to Reel. Not really allowed to give sources away. I've done a few personal jobs transfering personal collections to preserve their collections. Access is somewhat limited and it's getting harder to get anything anymore. I've been doing this type of work myself Computer based since 1995. If you know what you're doing you can master or remaster just about any decent lossless source. Anyway I'm glad you like the release.

As I said before, I'm so not a technical expert in these matters that any technical based remark by me one way or the other would be rather pointless. But what I CAN say is this: it "sounds" awsome even on my small 50,- Euro in-ear phones plugged into my computer, more intense than any other version of Jaws I have collected so far (including original CD's and downloads). That's rather subjective, of course, but it's all that matters for me - regardless of any technical specifications. Thanks, Spectre, for having done this!

Although he had to make a down-mix of the material (to DTS at Stereo, losing (part of) the spirit of restoration), for system requirements, the DTS material is very attractive, balanced sound message, not inflated and powerful bass, mids very advanced but not exaggerated, the high frequency in some give moments of incredible lashes.
listening music, field variables are so many that you lose count, that's why I try to make all the plays always with the same Stereo (apart from the wax in the ears)
For the material analogue 70' Years (from audio Cinematographic studios) is remarkable.
I wonder what the source material ?.

Thanks much for the review, much appreciated! The Original 2000 Soundtrack CD release was used. This release is the first of an even newer process I've developed to create true Hi Resolution Mastering,
Balancing the frequency range better than past releases. Although many of them could be tweaked to balance those releases too.

When I try to open the Rar file it tells me it can't be opened because the content is incomplete. I've downloaded it 5 times now. No problem downloading and opening other files.

missionmonkey, if that is really your name.
It's DTS. You cannot play DTS in anything without a DTS decoder.
