This is my fifth time through FF7 and I figured that it's high time I go and get that ALexander summon! So I got to Great Glacier. Annnd I looked at just about every strategy guide on gamefaqs. Basically, every guide will tell you to go to the hot springs area in the middle and touch it. Then go find "Snow" who gets pissed at you for touching it and beat her. Strangely, I can't find Snow. One guide said to go to the "world map-ish area" from the old man's house at the base of Gaea's Cliffs and head east from the top of the screen. So I went right and it took me to that weird rock formation thing that you can see on the map on the right side.. It kind of looks like these two rocks that you'd pass between on the map, but in the actual screen it was just one big rock you can walk around. I did this twice. So I got tired of fighting monsters and running around aimlessly and headed back to my computer.

Another way of finding Snow was listed in a dif guide. You go to the north-eastern-most part of the map (where there is a multi-pronged fork) and take the top right route (or "norhteastern-most route".. honestly do they HAVE to use cardinal directions?? I always get east and west confused lol) and keep heading up that trail until you meet a cave, in which resides Snow. Poo poo on you that didn't work either.

Also, something I should probably worry about more is the hot springs area. Its that big lake that glows and has a potion in it, right? I vaguely remember touching it on previous times through the game and I think it says "It feels warm" or something. But I can't figure out how to get that message. I walked around the entire screen next to and on the lake (where it lets you stand on it) pressing circle repeatedly and nothing happened. I was wondering where the spot is that you can get the message. Or maybe you can only do it once and I did it without realizing it already.

Also, I remember the last time I played FF7 I went back to Great Glacier to get Alexander and I remember finding Snow, who looked like an old man in a blue cloak, who only said "Go away" whenever I talked to her. She was sitting in a cave somewhere. So I'm sure I've found her before, but I guess you can only get Alexander the first time through Great Glacier, huh?

I did pick up something else I'd never gotten either, though: the Added cut/slash blue materia (I can't quite remember the official name). Heheh. Imagine coupling that with a KOTR summon. 13 slashes. Mayhem.

To obtain Alexander you must have touched the hot springs first. Then you have to do a little trick.....

The hot springs is not the big lake with the potion on it. It looks a little bit like a brigde, and there's a bit of hot water on the left and right side. It is about in the middle area of the map. When you touch it, Cloud will say "It feels warm". And that's it. You only need to do it once.

I always walk around in the glacier area at first to get all the items etc. you can find there. Then after a while Cloud will pass out and wake up in this one guys house. This is a good place to go to "Snow".

Is it the first time there, the guy will tell you a bit about the ice area at first, and after that you can talk to your characters, and change your team if you want. But don't go forward. Go back to the glacier to get Alexander.

Ok, when you start walking from the house, you walk through the snowstorm area and you can set the sticks to find the way...

Walk straight until you come to a hut. From there on go to the left side. Keep on going to the left side. If you did it right, you come to the place where you'll find "Snow". There's no other way to get there!!!

If you keep on walking straight from the hut, you will end up in the middle area (if you keep on walking you should get to the hot spring).....

If you walk to the right side from the hut, you will come to small snow buildings....

After you have touched the hot springs, and wake up the house, and start from there, you shouldn't have problems to find it.

You can go there an get it later if you want. ;)

I hope I could help you a little bit.... :)

I cannot remember the exact name and location of stuff for the moment, but I will have a check tonight and post you a nice little commentary. To wit, if you fail to get the materia after this, well you don't belong near a computer console.
