Offered here for posterity is the, now rare, original pressing of the soundtrack to Pocahontas. After the album was released, there were complaints about the song "Savages (Part 1)", specifically the lyrics "What can you expect/ from filthy little heathens?/ Their whole disgusting race is like a curse!" Many people felt these lyrics were too offensive, and they were changed to "What can you expect/ from filthy little heathens?/ Here's what you get when the races are diverse!" as well as "dirty redskin devils" being changed to "dirty shrieking devils". The new version of the disc was given the same catalogue number as the original and the film was changed before wide release, almost as if these original lyrics never happened! In addition, the instrumental first half of "Savages (Part 2)" was re-scored, making this disc something that I've sought after for quite some time.

Tracklist:

1. The Virginia Company - Chorus
2. Ship at Sea

The Latin American version is also very offensive, but nobody gave a damn:

What can you expect
from filthy little heathens?
Their whole disgusting race is like a curse!

Qu puedes esperar
de stos animales?
Su aspecto y su color son un horror!

Which, translated to english would be:

What can you expect
from this animals
their looks and color are a horror

Thank you for sharing this ToTheLastShot. I didn't know about this interesting story.

The comparison of the tracks (http://pastebin.ca/2642027) of this original and the corrected version I had shows that the only different streams are #12 and #13 (as you said, Savages I & II). It's a nice surprise that there is not a single bit shifted or modified in the rest,
// Edited:
so it is safe to keep this set and just the two different tracks from the newer version (or the other way round) to have the exact lossless sound of both. (...)

// 3rd edit:

I located a source for the tracks #12 and #13 in a set shared in ed2k, initially by an asian user. Like these two, all the tracks in that set have increased volume in a couple of dB and fading in the topmost frequencies (although they are not the usual lossy-to-flac encoding), compared with the rest of this set or with the revised version I have. They also present some DC offset (http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/DC_offset) (and a few pops as a result, like the two at the end of this set's track #13), which might suggest analog processing in their more recent history, and is something one would expect to be absent from an official release.

So, summing up:
To the fans of accuracy: the tracks of this set come from two different sources and the source for tracks #12 and #13 had a "worse" editing history.
To other users: even with those differences, the mentioned two tracks are the main value of this set and have good sound to enjoy. Please warn about the mixed tracks/quality if you reshare it.
To TotheLastShot: thanks again for sharing it.

Apparently this is the version I've had and I didn't know it. Could somebody post lossless versions of the revised tracks? I'd love to hear the difference.

If anyone still cares, can confirm this particular 2006 European version is uncensored so it's not that uncommon or rare.

https://www.discogs.com/Various-Pocahontas-Original-Soundtrack/release/1600536

Edit: Also can confirm the audio is not boosted as in the first post. Savages (Part 1) is quite literally the same as the revised edition (sans the slight offset at every censored splice).

Thank you so much for this. I'll maybe add it to The Legacy Collection version, haha.
