... Jecht knew the Hymn of the Fayth and how did it appear throughout all of Spira?

Forgive me, everyone, if I'm wrong...
The "Hymn of the Faith" as it is know in the present of the game, originally came from Zanarkand. Zanarkand of 1000 years ago (Tidus's Zanarkand).
I am not sure what exactly the song was then. It was either:
- A song that Tidus's mother or Jecht himself sang to him (Tidus) as a baby, or...
- It was a team song for the Zanarkand Abes Blitzball team in Jecht's time.
In Zanarkand's prime, the Abes were the best thing around! Everyone loved them. So that song became a very well-liked song. (Kind of like a popular song on the radio today).
I remember Jecht singing it in his rough voice in one of Tidus's dream sequences in the game.
Since it was a thousand years ago, and with all that Spira when through in those thousand years, that song remained as a song of hope, a song that, initially, reminded people of a better time. Eventually, through the ages, it came that of "scripture", if you will. Making it not just a song that people liked, but a song that they worshiped.
"The Hymn of the Faith" is appropriately named - a Hymn of Faith that one day things will be like they were long ago.
I know this is alot, but it's the best theory I can come up with. The story of Spira was very well done. I really enjoyed all facets of the game. It's like a book I couldn't put down.
I hope this helped.

that's a possibility.
thanks :D
This issue was covered in the game. Maechen explains it at Mt. Gagazet after you have the airship, just before the final battle..
I can remember the gist of the story, but not the fine details. You might want to just speak to him yourself.

Aaaah! Yes! It was sung in defiance of Yevon by the Zanarkand Summoners. Naturally, Yevon took it on as their hymn and pretended that it had always been so.
I remember now. Kind of.

Useless? Anything that involves the derivation of knowledge that was previously not known is not useless. Hell, I had trouble remembering it until a post in here, so it's all good. :)
Maechen did explain it all though. If I was clever, I'd search for a web script someplace.
