Okay,In FF8,the graphics(to me)are better then FF9's...Maybe I'm the only one but I think the order should be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,8,so on
anyone agree or don't understand?
I think that's ridiculous. The graphics on 9 were definitely a notch above 8. I think your complaint is that you don't like 9's style, so you call it inferior, regardless of the polygon count, complexity of the animations, etc.

FF8's style was more realistic yes, but it doesn't mean the graphics were better. Even if they were better, I still wouldn't call FF8 and FF9, simple because er... it's 8.

I understand what ff-gurl is saying. She meant by "better graphics", more realistic. VIII has realistic graphics, and IX has more of a "cartoony" style to iy. It's just her opinion. :) I wouldn't re-name them, but I understand why she would! ;)

So Lincoln should be called the 43rd President instead of Bush because he did the most for human rights?
No.
It is based on sequential order. It's not like the higher numbers are reserved for the "better" games; otherwise, FFVI would be the very top one and it would all be very confusing.

I think that more or less sums things up.
You can't re-number something because it "looks better" or some argument like that, it's a chronological thing.

I understand what you mean. After everybody had played FF 7, it was a sensation when FF 8 came out, because the characters looked more real.
So everybody expected the same (or even better) in FF 9. And then, finally FF 9 came out, and what did it look like ....?
They fell back again, yeah, looks like the games in the beginning.... It is that, what you try to say, don't you?
The story to FF 9 was more of a typical oldfashioned RPG, so the makers decided to do it with good graphics (of course), but more of the older style.... ;)
But I understand, if you were disapointed, I was a little too....

Oh yeah, I think FF8 should be called FF33 and a third, because I like the number 3 more than 8, so lets get lots of threes in there, yeah!

What a splendid idea! But we should use the numerical form of 1/3, so we have infinite 3s!

...Or maybe i was wrong...
I only think this because I looked forward to FF9,It's one of my favourite games but I just liked 8's graphics better,In 9 the FMVs were better though
but just when your controlling your characters it looks more real, because they aren't 3 feet tall (okay there probably bigger but i didn't mesure them)
So I think I made my point here
And I wouldn't want to change the order of the Games,I just needed a name for the thread lol

If you look back now, the characters in the FFVIII cut scenes look kind of stiff.
In FF9, I think, they really seem more alive, moving, smooth animations and what not.
Even if they aren't realistic. Being realistic wasn't what the programmers wanted, really. FFVI and the games before that weren't exactly realistic either. Also, it's fantasy...
And FF9 with realistic graphics la FFVIII would have sucked, sucked. It just looks absolutely, totally, incredibly fine the way it is.
