Any leak, promo or snippet from this score would be greatly appreciated.
I'm almost as anxious about this needing to be a memorable action score as I am about the content of the film itself.
The latest film clip had a horrible rock temp track over it (atleast I hope it was) and it didn't work for me at all.
Also the full ost is due on Sony Classical in early Feb I believe.

Wow thanks. I actually really like that. The potential to elevate that brass/string melody into a full blown action theme is there. I'm happy!

RoboCop (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by Sony Music Soundtracks on SoundCloud - Hear the world?s sounds (http://soundcloud.com/sony-soundtracks/sets/robocop-original-motion)

Samples of the entire OST album on soundcloud ^

The '87 Robocop theme makes an appearance on 'title card,' but doesn't re-appear. The rest sounds like fairly generic modern action music fare. It's not bad at all, just unremarkable. I genuinely hope they've held something back for the film itself. A decent action cue that further references the Poledouris theme would be nice. They used the theme once. It would be utterly pointless to reference it on the opening credit and then never touch upon it again, wouldn't it...?

On the other hand, for how things are shaping up, less references to the original soundtrack are due to respect.

Like how Charles Bernstein's original ANoES theme is heard in the beginning of the 2010 remake and never heard again?

If the original theme is only present in that Title Card song, then this composer should retire immediately! How can you have the rights and not use them!

I'll keep an open mind about this, since both composer and director are very unknown for those who haven't heard of Elite Squad, which it was a very gritty action film and score. They're practically new to the world of blockbusters and thematic action scores, so if Poledouris's theme is used, even once, then it's a good thing. Because usually, latinamerican film composers (like Santaolalla, Pinto, Jusid Kauderer, Zavros) are normally used to write intimate scores with few instruments and rarely one theme or two.

Indeed. I've never even heard of this composer and I don't even know who the director is.

It seems he's been additional music for a few films, and composed some video game music, as well as TV Series. He seems to be well rounded, I like the samples, and I like him!

Besting Basil's original score is the very definition of a steep uphill climb. I re-watched the 1987 film last night and it still holds up. All the topics the film targeted - the privatization of the police, military, hospitals - and the infantilization of the news media are frighteningly accurate.

I wonder if we'll say the same about the 2014 remake in 27 years?

It didn't happen to be the Remastered 4K Blu-ray, did it? I'm downloading it now and would like to know how good it looks and sounds

It is the 4K remaster and it looks damn good. (Some noticeable grain for literally the first minute but that's it. Robo was shot on film so grain is inevitable.). I've seen the first two Robo blu-rays and they we're definitely in the realm of the not good. And, if you care about such things, has a nice selection of extras. And Verhoeven oversaw the remastering. Best $7.99 I've spent.

Holy shit, only $7.99 for the 4K remaster?? Damn. Well I'm glad to hear it looks good. Hopefully my torrent finishes downloading before February 12th lol

I placed my pre order the moment it became available on Amazon. Original price was $17.99 or thereabouts. (My general policy when buying Blu-rays is only when they are at least 50% off their MSRP. A policy that I totally ignored.) Fortunately, the price fell and quite drastically. I'm frugal which means I'm cheap but with a college education.

I did a score restoration for the 4K remastered film, putting back some of the cues that were either dialed out or omitted entirely (most of OCP Monitors, the second half of Helpless Woman (which should never have been removed from the film, it's a fantastic musical moment of RoboCop punching Miller the gunman out the window), the opening of Rock Shop, and the finale Across The Board) and also included the Criterion DVD commentary. I even included the old Orion Pictures logo music from the good old days of watching the movie on VHS.

I was thinking of uploading the restored music track in case anyone here was interested. It's in DTS-HD Master Audio 4.0 surround (Left, Center, Right, Center Surround). I had done a 5.1 mix but it was too big for the film's video track to fit onto a single-layer Blu-ray disc - it ended up being an even 24 GB (despite the advertised capacity of 25 GB, blank discs of course are always smaller and blank Blu-rays are close to 22.9. Making it a 4.0 track (mixing down the surrounds to mono like the original film's audio mix was) made it 23 GB so it might fit when I get some blank discs.

Gotta wait a little longer for the soundtrack here...

I don't understand though. If this is a full reboot and such a different take on the character, why use it at all? It's just teasing us with something that's never meant to be there.
I would have preferred either a prolific use of Basil's theme, or to not have heard it at all. It seems like a bit of a half-hearted creative decision on their part. Worrying for the film itself.
