I'm probably not the first one to ask this, but I will not mince matters and immediately get to the point.
I would like to remove my account.
Yesterday, I registered for your forum, because I wanted to have the link to download the full CD of Pocahontas (Expanded Soundtrack).
When I did that, I read the forums rules and I was aware that I couldn't delete my own account, but I hoped and still hope that after I downloaded the soundtrack, one of the moderators of the website could delete my account.
However, the link doesn't exist anymore. Therefore, I really want to leave the forums.
Your forums is certainly fun for people who like the Final Fantasy series, but it is just not meant for me.
I hope you understand.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Thomas

This forum is so much more than Final Fantasy related stuff, in fact I have been here for well over two years and I have never even discussed anything in regards to that gaming Franchise.

You read the rules, seen that accounts are NOT deleted, yet still persist in asking for your account to be 'removed'? Since you asked politely...

NO! It's forum policy to NOT delete your account. Either change your password to something nonsensical and don't come back or simply DON'T COME BACK! It's just that simple. Personally, I despise people you join this site simply to leech "Free" downloads and not contribute to the rest of the forum, because they want to get something for nothing.

This forum is so much more than Final Fantasy related stuff, in fact I have been here for well over two years and I have never even discussed anything in regards to that gaming Franchise.

"never even discussed anything in regards to that gaming Franchise"... this is what's wrong with some people here. Only here to leech and obtain illegal downloads... and it IS illegal as you are not paying any compensation to the artist/developers/etc who spent time, money etc to make what people like you are leeching. This forum WAS originally a Final Fantasy forum when I first joined... and should've stayed that way, or at least incorporated more gaming oriented forums... Hell, I even proposed some ideas not so long ago which seemingly have fallen on deaf ears. There were many more subforum categories then which were fun and did generate population in the forum...

Well, as I was saying, I see no point in even responding to the people asking for a removal of their account. They can just not log on, how would they know if their account was still here or not? They'd eventually forget about the website if they don't log on for some time.

But they should. Threads like this are a hobby and personal peeve for him. He has also never minced words on how he feel about the download forum. So instead of asking him why he responds so, ask yourself why you are surprised he does?

Also, arguing a point with him never gets anyone anywhere that is warm OR fuzzy. :)

That's the point... the only reason they want they accounts deleted, is they know they've done wrong and want to try to 'cover their tracks'. Yet as this site does track the IP Addresses of those who are members, it's a moot point. Besides, if they learned to read they would've known from the start that it's forum policy to not delete accounts. Not my fault that people like the OP who ask for their accounts to be deleted have the mental capacity of a vegetable.

Revan Inquisition, eh? ... I like it.

True, I have never minced words and have been openly honest with how I feel about the download section. My feelings and views on that will never change. I admit, I have tried to curb my responses to these inane threads as of late... but now... why bother. It's stated clearly at the top of the forum that accounts are not deleted, yet these people who do want their accounts deleted must have selective blindness. Blind to anything except their own bullshit.

I don't buy secondhand music cd's, DVD's or even games... I buy all of my collection brand new (or on sale) from retail nowadays. If you choose to buy 'a bunch of CDs in a garage sale' though that is your choice to do so. I however do not bother with most garage sales/swapmeets/etc, while you may find some gems, more often than not you'll find nothing but shit. Only time I look on ebay for something, is for a older title (SNES, Megadrive games) which are no longer available in retail stores at the current time.

I'll even go to the library to watch and borrow TV shows just to catch up.

That's how I got into Dexter.
Now I only need season 8 to buy and I have the complete series.

And Criminal Minds.

And True Blood.

And Game of Thrones.

And Dead Like Me.

99.99% of garage sales I've been to (as well as swap meets and such) sell nothing but useless worthless crap, that the sellers themselves are trying to flog off to the unknowing masses...

Look. I'll be honest. After hospital bills, medical bills, scripts and food, there are no funds for extras. BUT, that is just an excuse. Being honest, I would still pirate even if I had cash. I feel nearly the polar opposite of Darth Revan does. I respect his view, and accept it. (I hope he does mine..). We can debate forever, none of us will change the others. Besides we were making fun of the OP wanting to delete the account, NOT debating the merits (or lack of) of pirating...

It all comes down to how one budgets and how they spend. Do you spend it all at once, or wait for the opportune moment to get maximum return for your purchase?

My opinion here of 'leeches and cheapskates (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMhfbLRoGEw)

I understand how some resort to pirating, either lack of funds or availability. My personal opinion about this matter is probably well known on this site and I apologise if that upsets people, but that's how I feel and will always feel. I don't have that much after expenses, but I always make sure to buy what I want. Not just for the legality and morality issues, but also to have the physical copy in my collection is far more preferable than having a digital copy.

In any event, this thread is derailing from the OP's original topic (of which I have noticed they haven't logged back in since...) which they admitted they were aware of, yet chose to discount and still ASK for their account to be deleted! So I'll just leave this link here as reference for the OP, IF they come back... Delete My Account (Thread 56156).

I have a list of books I'm looking for. most of them are out of print, so when I have time I go to a few second hand bookshops I know. Sometimes I find stuff, sometimes I don't. and sometime I find something that's not on the list but is too awesome to let go. So you could say I wait for maximum return. Same for games. I was lucky enough to get me grabby hands on 3 games I was looking for this year at the same place and time. There's nothing that compares to getting out of a store with not one but 3 holy grails at once.

I'll give you the link to my Ebay page if you like.

Are you selling used stuff?
Like if I buy from you, the artist/developers/etc won't earn any profit from it and all proceeds go directly to you?

Or you buying off other people who don't kick up to the artist/developers/etc?
Is there any sort of compensation system for eBay where legitimate the creators get any sort of money for the constant reselling?
I imagine it can be a thing where people buy boxsets and rare bundles of sorts only to turn around resell for profit.

Are there eBay stores that pay the artist/developers/etc in some sort of compensation?

I got a couple copies of Lord of the Rings books. I bought the first two separately before giving into a neat boxset with nice covers.
If you're only interested in the first two books, I can give you a deal---oh wait. One of them has a small portion torn out in the beginning...

According to one of the front pages, (where books still have those legal pages attached), I can't sell that one if it's missing the cover and legal pages...

If you're interested only in The Two Towers in paperback, I can give you a deal.

All proceeds go to a premium subscription of a direct download link service.

Are you selling used stuff?

I don't sell on eBay. I make purchases of items which are A: No longer available to purchase as they are discontinued B: Very hard to find in retail stores for reasonable prices C: Aren't available here in Australia due to licensing etc. When I said about the link to my eBay page, I was referring to my Buyer Feedback, as it was implied that there's a lot of cheapskates etc on eBay. While there are some of them, there are also genuine Buyers and Sellers. I just happen to be one of those people.

Like if I buy from you, the artist/developers/etc won't earn any profit from it and all proceeds go directly to you?

You won't buy from me as I don't sell on eBay.

Or you buying off other people who don't kick up to the artist/developers/etc?

Before I make any purchase, I check the Seller's feedback as well as compare the item they are selling with others (Is the case cracked or in good condition etc) including the price.

Is there any sort of compensation system for eBay where legitimate the creators get any sort of money for the constant reselling?

Not that I'm aware of.

I imagine it can be a thing where people buy boxsets and rare bundles of sorts only to turn around resell for profit.

That happens all the time, not just on eBay or online stores, but also secondhand retailers and such.

Are there eBay stores that pay the artist/developers/etc in some sort of compensation?

Again, not that I'm aware of.
