Very rare, long OOP disc featuring three excellent concert works from the 70s. The recording dates to 1981, and features the crisp, pristine digital recording a lot of Japanese releases had back then. Because of the US release's label, PM for link. :)

!!!!!

PM is on its way. :)

By the way, I have physical access to the the second volume of the complete Takemitsu edition (chamber, chorale). If you would like, I could rip all of them for you in a week or two.

!!!!!!!!! That would be wonderful, Akashi San! Please do! I will also be ripping and uploading more of my Takemitsu collection over the next week. :)

You got it. I'll have it ripped and upped as soon as I can (by New Year's hopefully...)

Don't despair if you find yourself having to individually go through and tag several of the discs because they aren't in any database! That problem plagued me with the Film Music volumes! :P

More like all of them.... I ripped 5 discs in Volume 1 and they had no database info :( I had to scan through the enormous "booklet" (beautifully written and bound by the way, but not the most browse-friendly book). I'll also up the first volume when I get the chance. I would like to rip and tag them completely first. Tagging takes a lot more effort since most of tracks have to be manually typed if you want English titles...

Here's a helpful resource for the track titles. Some copying and pasting might speed up the process:

Thanks for the link, but my OCD really kills me here because I have to know who conducted/performed and when. :'( Every work has a different recording year spread out among tens of conductors and performers. I usually leave the artist tag alone if the cover art is pretty explanatory but for this monumental collection, EVERY information is in the book only. What's funny is, it doesn't even tell you if a track is mono or stereo! (Some RARE/one-time-only performances are really dated). You can listen and pick them out for yourselves but still....

By the way, have you listened to this disc yet?

Toward The Sea is probably one of the most accessible and beautiful works that Takemitsu wrote. If you also like Debussy, this disc is just gravy.

Hmm, interesting. The books for the Third and Fourth volumes are similar, but I was not so OCD about the tagging -- I just went with basic titles and left it at that :P For many of the concert works, I am going to speculate that they may be drawn from the Denon recordings series, which are more or less the definitive recordings for many pieces. Those are well known discs and all their relevant info is online. The more obscure works would def pose a problem, though.

I've heard all the works on it and own them on separate discs. The most beautiful recording of Toward the Sea (imo) is found on this release:

The author of RAN (1985) was an exceptional composer. I recommend " the Dunes Woman" (1964) & Tanin no kao (The Face of Another) (1966). Please Flac Link. Thanks Cvalda !!
