Kidnapped is a 1971 British adventure film directed by Delbert Mann and starring
Michael Caine, Trevor Howard and Jack Hawkins, as well as a number of well known British
character actors. The film is based on the novel Kidnapped and the first half of the sequel
Catriona by Robert Louis Stevenson. Kidnapped was shot almost entirely on location in
Scotland. Places include Argyll, Mull and Stirling Castle. Pinewood Studios was used for some
interior scenes. The soundtrack was composed and conducted by Roy Budd and was released
on both vinyl and later, CD. The end title song "For All My Days" was sung by Mary Hopkin
with lyrics by Jack Fishman.
Flight of the Doves is a 1971 British film based on the novel by Walter Macken, the film
was written by Frank Gabrielson and Ralph Nelson. Nelson also directed the film. The Film stars
Ron Moody as Hawk Dove, Dana Rosemary Scallon as Sheila, Jack Wild as Finn Dove and Helen
Raye as Derval Dove. The film was scored by Roy Budd who had made his film soundtrack
debut in Ralph Nelson's previous film Soldier Blue. His score contains two songs- You don't have
to be Irish to be Irish, which is sung as the "St Patrick's Day Parade song", And "Far Off Place"
which is sung by Sheila, a tinker, the song is half in Gaelic (Irish) and half in English, the
songs talks about dreams and reaching your goals and finally seeing "the far off place".
