Final Fantasy IX is my favorite game EVER.
The characters all play important roles and are cool.
Gaining abilities is fun and the system is creative.
The story is solid, and makes sense.
There's mystery, violence, romance...

I give this game a perfect 10! Does anyone else agree?

sorry I took so long to reply, but my account thing got screwed up. Anyway, here is my original message:

Me too. I've beaten it (the last bosses) about 3 times and I'm still doin stuff on it. I used to love 7, but now 9 is my fave. 7 was my first final fantasy played/beaten.
so how old are you? don't tell unless your 16+, cuz that wouldn't be safe cuz you know, this is the internet. but you don't have to tell me anyway, i was just curious.

I'd give it a perfect 10, but I still like VII the best! IX follows close though! :)

I like FFIX because it was my first taste on how the older Final Fantasy were. Although FFVIII is my favorite, FFIX is second place because of classic and "old school" it was. And yes I like the cast of charcters/eniems too.

Really? Wow... actually of all the games, I kinda like FF9's skill-building the most, only second to FF10. I played one other FF game first, but for some reason it never really cought me right off the bat, but FF9 did. Just something about the characters and the fantasy setting was something that I really enjoyed.

So... yeah, FF9 is definitely my favorite Final Fantasy. I'd even say it's STILL my favorite video game of all time. Even after all these years. o.O

I think FFIX is my 2nd favorite final fantasy game and i dont like the skill thing in this either its annoying and sometimes if u dont buy a certain item for a character and u dont have enough money to buy it and so u come back later and it is no longer there or u cant enter the place EX. Vivi and a wand that teaches ga spells u can only get in this 1 village when eiko is kidnapped u cant go back so if u dont have enough money u cant get those spells

VI is my favorite, but IX is probably my favorite of the playstation FF games.

It's grossly underrated, in my opinion.

Agreed, FFIX is definatly the best of all. The sidequests are so much fun. I really like all the sidequests in this game more than any other.

This was the Final Fantasay game that I got most into, so I'd say yes, I have to agree. However, I'm not sure it's a perfect game, but... that's subjective.

FFIX had my favourite Chocobo side quest. It's better than FFVII. FFVIII you need some special thing. And 10 you can't do anything but train and do a couple of games.

In IX you can play Hot&Cold. And you can hunt on the world map.

FF9 is my second favorite FF after 7 :D

i give the game an 8 out of 10 for the soul reason that their were some weak points. also the skill building was a bit tedious and annoying (really the only skill building i like is from 10 where you have total control). besides that the game was awesome, and they had Kuja which is like one of the best villans besides Sephiroth

FF IX is my favorite Final Fantasy. Oh well, FF VII is good but I don't like graphic so much, And I played it in Japanese, so I played it without taste.

Hmm... with a thread like this there's usually a guy that slates FFIX cos it's the most underrated FF and all... Ah well.

It's the perfect 10 for me. You've got to love it.

I just recently started playing Final Fantasy IX again and I've come to like it alot. The cinematics are really good, not to mention that I really like the look of the game (graphics wise). The two player fighting mode is a nice add-on because it enables you to play the game with a buddy, the ability system is unique, just like every other Final Fantasy, so there's not much to say there, and I love how each character struggles through the entire game with their beliefs to try to better understand themselves, their self-worth, and their entire world because, apparently, they don't know too much about it. It makes the story alot better for me, too. Kuja, I thought, was pretty badass for a villan. For example, when all the heroes decided to just waltz right into the desert palace on disk III, he captured them all and forced Zidane to go fetch him the Gulug Stone or else he'd destroy his friends. Yeah, that was badass. There was nothing else Zidane could do.

I give it a 9 out of 10.

I would definately give FFIX a perfect ten although not all the characters play an important role. I don't think Quina's role was that important, not really.

FF9 was a good game, it envolved nearly all the characters in the plot, and it provided Emotional moments for nearly all of them, however my favourite is 7...

I liked the Skills building method of 9 and the sidequests were interesting, fun and rewarding ( both for job satisfaction and you often got a good reward in the game). the one thing i felt let nine down was the card game....

I didn't like it when I first played it. I was a little disappointed because FF-VII is my favorite and I was hoping to get a game like that again.

But I love it now. The story is good, the characters too, even if some of them are ugly. The Chocobo game is great, and the abillity system is pretty good too. :)

For me the Chocobo Hot and Cold game is the defining section for FF-IX, It was certainly my favourite part of the game :-D

First off, :coolegg: What a game! It is easily the best game I have ever played, ever! It has a plot that sucks you in, and then keeps you there for the whole, long, great ride, and the cut scenes, WOW!,

So, yeah i kinda like it, maybe, a little!!!!!!!!!

This is also my favorite Final Fantasy. I thought it had the coolest FMVs, good graphics, and most importantly an awesome storyline that doesn't get old no matter how many times you play through the game. 10/10

Well I thought Kuja was crap. The chocobo hot and cold minigame and the storyline was what made it good.

Well, if you thought Kuja was crap, then he was actually well made. You aren't supposed to like the villain. He was a good character for his role though. I think that is why FF9 is so great. Every character faithfully fulfills his or her role. The FMVs are the best ones I have ever seen in my life and they are only second to FF10 JUST BECAUSE FF10 was for Ps2. Anyway, I cannot give this game a 10, it was too short. I would give it a 8. Which is good but my grading scale is different from a lot of yours. So consider my 8 like your high scores.

FFIX was damn good, it was equal second on my list, alongside VII (guess what my favourite is?). I loved the characters and the story, the environment wasn't as good as what I thought of VIII or X's, but it was still good. I loved the classic battle system and character jobs, but I think X-2's Dressphere job system was a little better =P

I'm sorry but its the worst RPG i've played. I'll split my opinion in a few sections covering the basics

Characters: there were three good characters throughout the entire 4 disc game

Amarant: though a predictable loner stereotype, who doesn't love a beefed up badass?
Quina:very good comic relief. A fun character who was also decent in combat
Vivi: nuf' said

all the rest were too stereotypical or too mind-numbingly childish

Setting: I thought that the scenery was pretty bland. most of the time i found myself wandering brown roughlands with little shrubery. there were exceptions of course but mainly it was very bland (too me at least). Alexandra was cool looking in the cinemas, and the great lifa tree was photogenic but thats all that appealed to me.

Gameplay:the battlesystem seemed bland as well. I found nothing that stood out (7's materia, 8's junction, X's sphere grid). it was just "there".

Cards: horrible... granted it came after 8's addictive triple triad but still. luckily you dont need to play cards throughout the game otherwise i'd write square-enix.

Enemy: Kuja took the basic "Arggh i want to rule the world!!!" motive and added two simple twists to it, one: he wants to rule Two worlds and two: he's a transvestite. I've always hated villains that just want power, it's very cliche.

Story: i've made a recipie for this. enjoy, remember to first preheat oven to 375 degrees farenheit.
Final Fantasy 9 Cookies

First take greased Typical Disney Movie pan and add seperated pieces of crappy chocobos, preteen looking warriors, and a half cup of predictability. Bake for 4 discs time and enjoy. goes good with milk

I really enjoyed the little bit I played of "Final Fantasy IX". It was my uncle's game, so I had to give it back to him, like, when I was halfway through the first disc.

From what I've seen of the game, I'd probably give it a 10/10.

Ah, Final fantasy IX. I'm glad I've discovered other people liked it too.
On my first time round, I really got to like the characters, and although I could tell FFIX was really just a 'filler' game until FFX it was infact a great game in its own right. The sub-quests were cool, and I did'nt mind the whole learn-from-your-weapons thing. To be honest, Zidane made a fresh change to the role of FF Main Character. He's better than Squall is anyway. Miserable get, I'd have enjoyed FFVIII a lot more if he'd have cheered up by disc 2. Where was I? Oh yes, I remember. FFIX is great. (Incidentally I do like FFVIII, I just couldn't stand Squall's constant misery)

Of the four FF's I've played (VII, IX, X and X-2) IX was the first, and that makes it mean something to me. It has a great story, great characters and great graphics (for playstation, anyway). Can't say it's the best, though. I think everyone of them were just as good. X-2 might have been a wee bit dissapointing, so the three others are on a split first place. Loved the chocobo part of the game.
