The Cowboy Way was a 1994 comedy about 2 rodeo champs who travel to New York City in search of their missing buddy, Nacho. Unfortunately, they find him in the morgue, so set out to locate his killer instead. Along the way they'll also have to rescue Nacho's daughter, who was smuggled into the city and forced to work in a sweatshop. Sounds like a comedy, right? The fun part was supposed to be how these 2 country dudes dealt with life in the Big City, but the film failed to amuse audiences. One critic summed it up as: "Cowboy...No Way!"
The commercial soundtrack on Epic featured only 11 pop vocals. Newman's instrumental score is more omnious than comic, with some twangy cowboy guitar providing the lighter touches. 13 tracks from Cowboy Way were also released on the private label DNCD #002LR. I normally find the tracks to be the same on all promo/bootleg versions, but here I found distinct differences. For starts, the sound quality of the DNCD version is noticeably different and, to me, less satisfactory: more muted, less spacious, less clear. There are also 3 tracks of music on this version not found on the DNCD version, offering about 5 minutes more of music. A track comparison can be found in the 2nd Spoiler.
20 untitled tracks totaling about 40 minutes.
Good (not great) stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
Tau and EAC indicated all tracks on this disc to be lossless.
Disc was ripped to FLAC using XLD.
