I made this thread to find out if anyone here (besides me) was into sports games. Here are my opinions just in case someone actually is.
Football games
Two main competitors: Madden and ESPN
My opinion: ESPN football (at least 2K5) wipes the floor with Madden. The gameplay is finely tuned, the graphics are awesome, the game has great replay value (with the Crib and all) and it is overall very solid. Madden is also very good though.
Basketball games
main competitors: NBA Live and Street, ESPN
My opinion: I liked NBA Live 04 but it got old after a while. On the other hand, Street 2 is the funnest basketball game I have ever played and is a GREAT party game if you plug in the multitap. We laugh for hours with that game. And also, ESPN Basketball is also great because of the same reasons as Football.
others
Hockey Games: I haven't really been following these for quite some time but most are all fun (except for 989's!)
Baseball games: Also, don't pay too much attention but I always liked the MVP series and the EA series wasn't that bad.
Racing games: Never play
College basketball/football: NCAA 2005 is an awesome college football game, the Stadium Pulse is a great innovative idea, the option can be deadly when executed properly and there is a lot of depth. For basketball though, just about anything will do.
