To my knowledge, they're from Romance of the Three Kingdoms or something like that.
It could be referring to the Dynasty Warriors games.

Alpott, stop chatting in threads please. Unless you've got something constructive to add, don't say it.
I think one guy who will be able to answer this is the Shriner formerly known as Death's Hand, and now known as Xiahou Dun.
As it is, from a brief browsing, Xiahou Dun is mentioned in both Dynasty Warriors and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Hmm... Another game to try out, maybe.

Zhou Yu is good if you can handle the lack of control.
Zhang Fei is nice and chaotic but never really deals enough damage.
Xiahou Dun is a moderate character that can easily be mastered and become a very powerful warrior.
My Vote: Xiahou Dun

Thanks for the reference Bahamut ZERO. I havent been around here much, my own fault for that I guess. Anywayz, the thread here is rather obscure when you think about it, but Ill try and see if I can sort out this mess I hope.
Xiahou Dun, Zhao Yun and Zhou Yu are characters in KOEIs, romance of the Three Kingdom games, Dynasty Warriors games and Dynasty Tactics games. Ill also add Kessen II here, seeing as it was based on the same novel, the others were all loosely based. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, by Luo Guanzhong.
Firstly, Xiahou Dun. He was a cousin of the lord of Wei, Cao Cao. In a battle, he was shot by an arrow in his right eye. Seeing as how the eye was apart of him and his soul (Well, some people say the Eyes are the windows of your soul.), he pulled the arrow out, with his eye embedded on it, and ate it. In the Dynasty Warriors games, its unclear as to how he lost his eye, as in each successive DW game, the details are varied. In DW2, he lost his eye, in front of Hu Lao Gate, in, ironically called, the Battle of Hu Lao Gate. In DW3, it wasnt really mentioned as to how he lost his eye. In DW4, it was during the Battle of Xia Pei castle, Xiahou Dun has cut down the last of a group of attacking soldiers, turns and faces the arrow as it strikes him. He pulls the arrow out and devours the eye saying Soon Cao Cao will bring light to this world. For that, Ill give him one eye!. If youre not playing as Xiahou Dun, he still continues to attack and cause mayhem. In DW3, he was calmer and somewhat cold. In DW4, he seems a little bit crazy.
Zhao Yun. He had the bad luck of serving under lords who didnt really appreciate him. After Gongsun Zan died, his obligations to the Gongsun clan fulfilled, he sought out the Shu ruler Liu Bei and entered into his service. He proved his worth time and time again, and was appointed to Shus Five Tiger Generals (Other members were Liu Beis two oath brothers, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. The other two were the aged, yet deadly with his bow, Huang Zhong, and the young and noble Ma Chao.).
Zhou Yu was an oath brother of Wu lord, Sun Ce, who was the next in line to lead Wu, when his father, Sun Jian, was killed in an ambush. Zhou Yu married Xiao Qiao, her sister, Da Qiao having married Sun Ce. When Sun Ce died, according to his will, Zhou Yu went on to serve the next member of the Sun family, Sun Quan (or as I like to call him Platform Head!. Play the DW games, and youll see why I call him that.).
Thats about all I can remember off the top of my head. I havent read Romance of the Three Kingdoms for awhile now, but what Ive put here, is basically the gist of it. Anywayz, enough of the history lesson, yes? I have a damn headache now! This thread, to me, seems to belike another which was here awhile ago. Basically, you just say which Dynasty Warrior character is your favourite and why.
In any event, my favourite, for each kingdom are :
Wei : Xiahou Dun, Zhang Liao, Xu Huang and Zhen Ji (Her musou is powerful and shes a dangerous fighter.)
Wu : Zhou Tai (Only guy with a katana.), Zhou Yu and Huang Gai.
Shu : Wei Yan, Pang Tong, Yue Ying and Ma Chao.
For the unaligned characters only Lu Bu and Zhu Rong are worthwhile. The others arent.

Out of the three DW generals mentioned, I'd say Xiahou Dun, for reasons, well, which XD has already covered! :D
As for my favourite Dynasty Warriors/Romance of the Three Kingdoms character though, I'd say it was none of the above. My favourite, as XD already knows, is Zhu Rong, the queen of the Nanman tribe and supposedly the daughter of the God of Fire.
Not only was she refered to in the actual Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel as being the only woman to actually fight on the battlefield during the Three Kingdoms period (where she captured two Shu officers - all the other female characters in the story having more minor roles in the background), she is very attractive, and VERY strong (her True Musuo attack burns the enemy to dust, especially with a powerful weapon in hand). Plus, her cocky attitude is very appealing.
Plus, the sexual tension between herself and her husband Meng Huo is absolutely hilarious (watch the FMV scene The Nanman Way in DW4 to see what I mean.) The only thing I can't understand is exactly what she sees in the dumb lug, but then I guess, love is blind.
As her 'victory' quote says in DW4 whenever she defeats an enemy officer: "That oughta learn ya!";)

Heh I always liked Shu better.
They seemed to have more balanced characters but I guess that depends on what you prefer.
I like Zhuge Liang, his strategies were epic.
