I'm a huge fan of the Playstation 1 games Tomba and Tomba 2. I recently put together an ultimate Tomba 2 soundtrack pack from scratch (see link in my signature) but I still feel that none of the Tomba 1 soundtrack packs currently available in the community are quite perfect. I'm hoping someone here can help me do a PSF re-rip.
There is a PSF pack available at Zophar's domain and another site (http://psf.joshw.info/t/) which is pretty good, but I've noticed 3 problems with this pack, and there may be more which I'm not aware of:
-"Title Screen" sounds slightly wrong (some of the percussion is too loud)
-"Village Of All Beginnings" sounds slightly wrong (some of the percussion is too loud)
-"33 Unknown" - for which the correct title should be "Dwarf Forest Purified"* - sounds completely wrong (best way I can explain it is the tune is correct but the instruments are wrong)
*Please note "Dwarf Forest Purified" is a completely different track to "Dwarf Village Purified".
I've also identified all the "Unknown" track titles in the pack as follows:
"Track 33 Unknown" - correct title should be "Dwarf Forest Purified"
"Track 34 Unknown" - correct title should be "Leaf Slider"
"Track 35 Unknown" - correct title should be "Trick Village (Purified)"
"Track 36 Unknown" - correct title should be "The Flower Tower"
Unfortunetely despite many many hours trying, I have been unable to re-rip PSFs of Tomba 1 myself. It's just way beyond my technical ability and I'm completely out of my depth. Apparently Tomba uses the Fear Effect 2 - Retro Helix (SLES_033.86) Driver, which might be part of the problem, as I don't really understand where to get this driver or how to use it. I have managed to find and identify some of the SEQ files, VB files and VH files in the Tomba 1 game data (For example I know "S_AR010X_0000" is the sequence file for Dwarf Forest Purified) but that's as far as I've been able to get. I managed to rip PSFs from Tomba 2 so I'm not a complete newbie, but I could really use some help with Tomba 1.
I'd really like to put together an ultimate Tomba 1 soundtrack pack for the community but I just can't do this without correct PSF rips of at least the three tracks above
