I really loved the in-game music of Sonic Colors and bought the OST, but there were a couple things I was unsatisfied with. I don't really like orchestrated sounding music, and I felt like the story sequence tracks were breaking up the good songs. Also, I'm assuming it was due to feedback from the fans, this OST has 2 loops for all variations of each main theme. The thing is, areas 1 and 3 are often almost the exact same song with some melodic embellishment but no harmonic arranging. Basically very similar, so I felt like I was listening to one song 4 loops instead of 2.

So I decided to do something about it, the result of which is this file set. First I took out the intro sequence and all story sequence songs, along with the options screen and most anything else orchestral (except for the world map). Then I spliced together the songs for area 1 and 3 of each world with each looping once (akin to the Sonic Rush OST). The only world I didn't do this for was Planet Wisp, since all three area songs were pretty different. Even though I hate it, I kept the short version of Reach for the Stars since it felt strange to have level 1 music playing immediately at the beginning of the disc. Speak With Your Heart is also there. Basically the in game music, including all the game land songs. I also adjusted some volume levels, since the songs with heavy kick drums were noticeably louder than the others.

I honestly don't know if anyone else would want this version of this soundtrack, since it's incomplete and all. For me, it's the most listenable way to have these songs. I get a lot from this community, so I figured I'd just put it up here.

As a guy who also tends to edit OSTs when something about the original mixing irks me, I know I most certainly will.

Thanks, man!

What encoding are the tags in? I let unextract's default take over and everything was horribly screwed up.

Glad to know some people could enjoy this.

That's a good question, and honestly I'm not sure. This is how the files came into existence:
1. I ripped them from the official CDs into .wav files with Windows Media Player.
2. After editing, I burned them onto CD-rs.
3. I ripped the files from my CD-rs into .mp3s (as I always do when sharing music) with Windows Media Player.
4. I compressed them into .zip folders with default windows software

Because I listen to music through my CD player and not my computer, I never think about track titles and thus never make them. The tags may be appearing in Japanese since I live in Japan, which might be throwing your computer off. Does that help at all? Maybe try downloading Japanese text reading software?
