i hate it when your re-playing an ff game and its all that toturial crap at the start! it just buggs me because ive already played it one time though and i know all this....i know it needs to be there for help, but i wish there was an option to just turn it off....
its slow and boring...and frustrating when you want to get on with the game....
anyone agree?

On your first time through, I enjoy these tutorial things because they really teach you what the heck you're supposed to do and stuff. However, on your second time through and beyond, they do get annoying. But I like in FF8 that you could skip the tutorials whenever you wanted, so you don't have to waste time relearning these things.
I would rather brave a few minutes of the same old tutorial every time I replay a game as opposed to not truly learning and understanding the different concepts of the game.
in FFVII you can skip the tutorials if you want.
and in 8 you can't
but i'm not really bothered by them.
I havn't played X and X-2 yet, and obly played XI once.. cant remember if that had any obligational tutorials
4-6 didn't have any if i remember correctly

I like how in VII you can skip them, but it's also easier to figure out the system on your own than it is in VIII. I can't stand it when you can't skip them, especially when you've played a game numorous amounts of times, but it IS a good review because I find VIII's system to be a bit confusing. Not that I pay attention anyway, so YES IM EXTREMELY BOTHERED BY THEM!! But they're good fro people who need them.

In FF VIII when Quistis or someone is teaching you about junction, just press the triangle button instead of X and the tutorial will stop.

As long as you can skip through them, it doesn't bother me at all.
I always think it's kind of funny when they make tutorials part of an in-game conversation though. Way to break the fourth wall.

Amen to that.
The tutorials are definately NOT annoying first time round. I play Finl Fantasy first time round without a walkthrough, so you can imagine how important they are to me.
But FFVIII tutorials are annyoing as you cannot skip them.

They sometimes annoy me, but there are also times when I over-look an important tip which could help my gameplay more effectively. But to make it as plain as possible makes it more challenging. So...yeah, I'm not too thrilled about tutorials unless I see them for the first time.

Yes, you CAN skip them. When one comes up, push triangle instead of X. Trust me, I've done it tons before. I even started replaying FFVIII awhile ago and I know that I skipped all of them for sure.

i play FF without walkthroughs...the FF series is known as an 'information game' which means all the stuff you need to know(where to go next, what you need to get etc) is already in the game....its uhh...oh what you call it...liner i think thats it...
but i needed a walkthrough for ff10-2...damn that game was hard without a walkthrough! so i just got one!
i play the ff's real easily....it was like...'a bird taking to flight' with me....ive never needed a walkthrough or cheats first time round.....ever...

Oh thanks, but Quistis just gave me them all, i'll remember that for next time though.

Well, in my opinion, Ultimecias castle is virtually impossible to do without at least a little help from the walkthrough. I've completed FFVIII several times, however only by remembering have i been able to do it without a walkthrough nowadays.
Also, i wouldn't really class a walkthrough as 'cheating', it just gets you on the right lines, becuase at the end of the day; the wlakthroughs don't fight the battles for you, or solve the puzzles for you, whereas a cheat may do so.

I wouldn't classify walkthroughs as cheating either, but it seems like the game wouldn't really be much fun if you used them.
If I really truly get stuck on something that seems small and stupid, I pop online and try and get a hint in the right direction, but other then that, I never use walkthroughs my first time playing a game.
Part of the fun is figuring out something really challenging by yourself.

Yes, it really buggs me, when this tutorial stuff starts again. It was great in FF VII, because you didn't have to go through this, if you didn't want. But in other games, you have to.... :(
I always hurry up with clicking through, to bring it behind me.... ;)

Oh I do hate those things, Even when I first play the game it annoys the heck out of me. I like to figure things out myself it just makes me get into it more, and if i make a mistake, i can learn from it

yeah me too, its fun to figure out how the game works. When im in a totorial, i keep pressing the button and noit reading through it, but I don't pay attention so I accidentally talk to the person again and press "yes" for another review! errrrr!

Agreed.
It only annoys me when the tutorials are either unskippable or on some really basic subject (ie "you walk by pressing forward).

I usaully save at certain points to to skip any kind of to tutorials when i want to play a game again. Sure i'll miss some points in the game but the tutorials are very annoying.

The tutorial is there for the first time you play it, so you can learn how to play it, so obviously when you play it again you will get the same tutorial..
So if you use your common sense, its not annoying or anything..
