Quality over Quantity

In Final Fantasy 10, you can actually control the aeons and use them more strategically.

But yes, a bigger variety would be cool.

I like having a variety of Aeons, yes, but I wouldn't want to have oodles of them just for the sake of variety.

There's really no reason to have tons of Aeons- if you have one for every element, a non-elemental one, and one or two that are something. . .interesting, I'm pretty much set.

yeah i think more gfs or whatever were good but the fact that they didn't stay out was not. what i think would be a great way of gfs is if they stayed out and you could switch the gf to other ppl like the junction.

Except for FFVI, where the Espers were the way to get your char's stats high.

Espers? i dont know what they are.....

i dont think that the summon(or whatever) have nessesarily(SP?) gone down hill...it was good to have all those summons in 7 and 8, 9 let up alittle and 10 only had 8-10 summons...the only difference there was that you could control the summons(which was a pretty damn good idea!) but i guess they kind of ruined it when they used the special summon/dress sphere....that was dumb...i liked the dress sphere sytem, but using them as a substute was kinda lame......

My fave summons are;

Shiva(8)
Bahamut(10)
Quenzacoatle(8)
Doom Train(8)
Rahmut(7)

im not sure if that last ones spelled right.....

I love the FFVII summons, because anyone can use them, and they just come in, deal a shitload of damage, then leave you to finish off the enemy, if they haven't already. However, there are too many, seeing as how some of them become obsolete over time and some are even forgotten. On the other hand, the very nicely detailed Aeons from FFX can be summoned, use spells, attack, special attack, heal themselves, damage the enemy, and protect the team. And none of them really become obsolete. Maybe unused, but they can still be used strategically and they're certainly never forgotten.

I like FF8's summon system, where the summons level up and stuff the more you use them. But I like how FFX you could sontrol the summons and have them use their better stats, but it sucked that it took them too long to learn some of the better abilities, and that they became weak once you power up your own characters. But in FF7 and FF9, summons were just extra long, but powerful spells.

In the next FF, they should have the option to call aeons out to attack like in FFX (although the one who calls it out gets replaced, not the whole party), but there are some options so you can tell them to attack (like in FF7/9). But they should level up and learn new abilities like in FF8.

i reckon that they over did the aeons in x because if you summon sumone like anime with break damage limit on your max sphere grid as soon as you get limit BANG!!!!!!!! like 10 99999's and even the strongest enemies are pretty much GONE!!!. giving aeons far to much power.

i also see aeons as like a god you can call on there powers but not to much like ummmmmin x you can use them to there maximum abilities but in all the others they just come and do one little attack and blast the enemy giving a kind of sense of mistery that makes them seem all powerful and stuff.but x takes that away........i'm not conusing anyone i hope.

I think out of all the summons in FF7... I probably only used a good 5 out of... 13 or so, not even sure of how many are in FF7.

I mean it's all nice to have a whole mess of summons at your disposal, it's even nice when you can summon all of em whenever you want when you get the ability to. But unlike the vast equipments in every Final Fantasy game (except for 8), it's really all just crap to say "Hey! I completed my summons list!"
