Seems like there's been a lot of talk lately about Yuffie's sidequest, so I thought I'd just share some of the quirky, interesting stuff you guys maybe didn't know about the sidequest. Perhaps somday I'll turn this into an FAQ:

There are chocobo tracks in the Wutai Area that you can use if you're doing the sidequest on Disc 1 and you'd like to make it to Wutai quicker. This brings up the question that some may have wondered: is it possible to hop on either a Black or Gold Chocobo and screw with the game by bailing out? Well, I checked on this, and the answer turns out to be know. It seems that the game treats these like the Highwind, if you try to board it, Cloud won't and just says "First I gotta do something about her."

If you wanna try something different, wait until Disc 2 to do Yuffie's sidequest. Then go try it out when either Cid or Tifa are leading the party. You'll get some interesting new dialogue that you can't get otherwise. Make sure once you're done to go back and do the Pagoda part too.

Here's something quirky: if you get Yuffie but go through without doing her sidequest, the characters all still act like she tried to take their materia. What I mean is, the dialogue doesn't change any when she returns to the Highwind at the end of Disc 2.

Doing Yuffie's sidequest affects whether or not the Turks will give you a choice to battle them in the return to Midgar mission.

Doing Yuffie's sidequest on Disc 2 is the only way to the Trine Enemy Skill for all four Enemy Skill materia.

If you do Yuffie's sidequest, it increases your chances of getting her to go on a "date" with Cloud at the Gold Saucer. However, if you make the right choices, you can save it for Disc 2 and still get her date.

If anyone has anything else interesting, they can post it here.
about your last point:
i saw somewhere the exact way how the date thing works..
it was either on this site or an a faq i got on my HD.
it explains exactly what to do and say to either get Aeris, Tifa, Yuffie or Barret.
Someone who really knows this forum could probably give the link to the exact thread (if it was posted here)

About the enemy skill "Trine":
It has nothing to do with the sidequest. Only with the fight at the Pagoda.
You can do the sidequest, but without the Pagoda. You can still do the Pagoda at dics 2 or disc 3!
I always do it that way, because I want to do Yuffies sidequest with Aeris in my team (because of her limit Great Gospel, it's just good for the boss battle there).
And then, I go back there on disc 3 to do the Pagoda, for getting the enemy skill and the Leviathan materia. ;)

..I Recently did the sidequest (With the help of the friendly peeps on the forums) and found the boss to be way too easy. I have could at level 40, with a nailbat, and at his limit break before going into battle. First I unleashed cross slash, for somwhere in the 3000's and then got hit for 1500 points, Immediantly got my limit break back and unleashed it again. Dead. BTW im still on disc 1, And did the side quest after the temple of the ancients, So im still on disc 1.

Though I havn't tried it myself, I have heard that if you land the highwind and ride a Gold chocobo up to the bridge, you will still be riding it after the battle with the guards! So you can ride away and do whatever. I did get to thinking, though. What if you dismounted on another continent? Would the game let you climb back on the chocobo, or leave you stuck there?:erm:

No, that's okay. I know all about how the dating setup works. I actually wrote one of the guides for the dating under an old alias.

That's a good point. You could do the quest on Disc 1 and just skip the pagoda.

Sounds like bunk to me, but worth a shot at actually testing and seeing what happens. And lucklily, I still have my savefile, albeit with a black chocobo, but it shouldn't make any difference. I will try that out and see how it affects the game.
Edit: Just as I thought. That theory doesn't fly because on Disc 2, Yuffie's sidequest is activated by trying to enter Wutai directly, not on the path. And you can't enter any town while you're on a chocobo.
P.S.: I mentioned the chocobo tracks in my initial post. Of course, in order to catch a chocobo, you'd have to have Chocobo Lure. I neglected to mention that if you do Yuffie's side-quest on Disc 2, she might not take all of your materia. She is limited to taking something like 48-50.

I thought it was hilarious how elena and yuffie were tied to the statue and yuffie was screaming and shouting insults..LMAO.

So to do the side quest with tifa just dont enter wutai until she leads?
I was also wondering when is the cut-off point to the wutai side quest. Can you still do it after returning to to midgar and therefore see the turks again after already seeing them for the last time in midgar?
EDIT: O man, Sorry for reviving this, I just realized.

LOL. Well, I suppose I can answer your questions:
1. Right on. Same with Cid. Or, visit Wutai if you want, but just have Yuffie not join the party before then. The scenario can't activate if she's not with the group.
2. No, the cut-off is the visit to revisit to Midgar scenario. So if you've already done that, then it's too late, and nothing special will happen if you visit Wutai. See also my third point in the original post.
Well, I checked on this, and the answer turns out to be know.
I guess someone forgot to proofread. lol

Just a few questions:
* Is the quest the only way to get the cats to move so you can get the MP Boostorwhatever?
* Can you still access the place with the flyer if you skip out on the sidequest?

Question 1-- sorry, I actually don't know for sure. I do know for a fact that you won't be able to get the materia in the shop if you don't do the sidequest-- the girl there says something about it being too late to worry about it. Really don't know about the cats, though.
Question 2-- The place with the flyer... oh, you mean the Turtle's Paradise flyers? Never tested it, but I can't imagine that you wouldn't be able to-- it's not specifically connected to the sidequest and it shouldn't be blocked off or anything.

You can also get Trine when in the great glacier caves, fighting the Stilvas (The Nateria Keeper's red paletted cousin), as well as Magic Breath.

Read carefully:
Doing Yuffie's sidequest on Disc 2 is the only way to the Trine Enemy Skill for all four Enemy Skill materia.
You don't get the fourth Enemy Skill materia until after the Great Glacier caves and it's not possible to return to them.

Actually, Agent, I think it is possible to go back there. It involves using a Green Chocobo to enter the Great Glacier from the world map, as opposed to by using the snowboard, thus allowing you to access the parts of the caves where the Stilva dwells.
At least, I think that's how you do it. I can't be sure, but I definitely remember that it's possible to get the Trine enemy skill even on Disc 3 because I recall doing it myself.

Really? I'd heard of being able to access the general Great Glacier area using a chocobo in order to be able to get Alexander, but I've never heard of actually being able to go back and access the cave areas. I'll have to test that out...
Edit: Ceidwad, sorry, but I think you may be remembering it wrong. I just don't think it's possible to get back to those caves on Disc 3. I tried it earlier this evening. I can get as far as the area with the shack and that's it'. But when you try to actually progress to the glacier area, the guy in the shack comes running out and tells you that you can't get the glacier, so quit trying.
I just did a quick Google and various sites and FAQs back me up on this-- that Gaea's Cliff absolutely can not be accessed any time after you first visit it. So, I don't know what you're thinking of, but I can only assume you remembered it wrong.
(But, hey, if you still think you're right, though-- it'd be really interesting news if you were! Just provide the specifics here!)

Perhaps it was sometime late on Disc 2, then. I'll take your word for it.

Honestly, I think it's the same for Disc 2, because everything I've ever read indicates that Stilvas are one-time only thing...
But what about the Stilvas in the arena in the Gold Saucer? Can you not learn Enemy Skills there? Or do they not use Trine?
Agent0042

Ah, but if only you could. Unfortunately, the amount of Enemy Skills you can learn in the Gold Saucer's Battle Arena is zero, zilch and zipall. It's not that monsters in the Battle Arena don't use them, it's just that your characters can't learn them there.
