I fairly sure that there are two real gunblades in the world at the moment. I think that Square Enix made one (then Squaresoft) to help them with animation and graphics.
Can someone verify this for me? If it is true, then where is the other one and who owns it? Also any other information would be good.

Actaully you can purchase them, though I am not quite sure the revolver part of the blade really works, it's an exact replica.

Really! Where from?
I have run into authentic short swords with pistols as the hilts, the concept was around way back when those types of weapons were still effective.
As for now I highly highly doubt there has been a gunblade the likes of which you are imagining produced. You can learn how to swordsmith/blacksmith but welding a gun to a sword in hopes of creating a functional gunblade would probably involve a whole other category and area of study.

There was someone in chat a year or two ago who was having a gunblade custom made for them.
Can't remember who it was, so hopefully, they still post here, and they'll read this.

Maybe the gunblade would be like the parasite eve 2 one.

wtf.....more like 20mm sad ass.
anyway the idea of an actual gunblade is stupid not to mention impossible. the reason is as follows. the revolver on the hilt of the blade is odbiously not for shooting bullets but for charging up his weapon with explosive power which if you think about it cannot work. but of course they can make exact replica and i have seen one my friend bout one from ebay or something and its like 1.5m long and stuff and really really heavy. wielding one would just be insane.

One of my friend had a sort of gunblade the blade was 3 nich long lol and at the hilt of the blade there was a small revolver, just like a gunblade. But I doubt that it was really a gunblade because I think it was just a company that tried something new.

I think this is sort of what a gunblade replica looks like.
Based on a revolver and steel blade.

Frickin' hell. Before anyone else says that they saw a gunblade on eBay please check that it's not a letter opener
This is an example of a letter opener.

OK, we've now seen a REAL GUNBLADE REPLICA and a LETTER OPENER.
Is everyone certain now that there are real gunblades, and trust me, they are functional.
Think about it.
It is a long sharp blade, and a gun at the handle, so when you go to strike someone with it (like you do) you can pull the trigger (like squall does)

Yeah you are right, but who make them? Square-Enix? lol.

I'm not sure who makes them. I don't really think there something you will find often.

From what I've read I think Square-Enix made one for graphics purposes while making FFVIII.

Wouldn't it be Squaresoft. When FF8 came out, it wasn't Square-Enix.

Okay, okay, Squaresoft, Square-Enix, let's not waste time and space quibbling over semantic differences. Yes, we know that back then they were called Squaresoft.

What I was saying was that Squaresoft/Square-Enix (you decide) made only one gunblade, and that they are not commercially available.

Okay, here's my $500 worth. (Joke on "Two Cents worth", my military friends figured that the first image would be about $500.)
Here (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistol_sword) is the information on the real weapon.
And finally, there's a (non-firing) replica of a Flintlock Pistol Dagger sold here. (

As a side note, I want the revolver shown at the top.

Well, but he did actually have something new to contribute to it, which is pretty remarkable. However, it probably would've been better just to create a new thread.
Relating to the topic, a pistol dagger actually has a practical purpose as a gun that you can use as a dagger when you run out of ammo in a tussle. A full-sized FFVIII gunblade, however, only has purpose in a world where it's quite common to survive multiple gunshots.
