Ok, I liked this idea. So, I am starting a Team Trivia for this game as well. Here are the rules:
There will be two teams, consisting of either four or five players, depending on how many people want to be a part of this. There will be one captain, but no vice-captain. And I will be asking the questions for this competition.
There is one captain for each team. So, here is the layout:
Team 1
Captain
Member
Member
Member
Member (If necessary)
Team 2
Captain
Member
Member
Member
Member (If necessary)
Members are allowed to posts answers, and they will be counted as correct or incorrect. However, the Captain can override any answer that was given by his team, providing that I haven't said said right or wrong yet. If Team 1 guesses, and the Captain wants to change the answer his team proposed, but I have already said correct and incorrect, then it is final. I think that would be pretty fair to do. No member is allowed to override their teams answer, only the Captain.
Only one guess from each team will be judged at a time. So, Members, if you are not fully sure, maybe you should just sit that question out and wait for your team to answer it. I will not accept two different answers from one team. Each team gets only one shot at each question.
In the last Team Trivia, there was a period in which one team kept guessing two or three questions correctly in a row. Thus, not giving the other team an opportunity to answer the question. So, this is how it will work:
One person, either the Captain or one of the Members, will answer the question from Team 1.
One person, either the Captain or one of the Members, will answer the question from Team 2.
And to add a little spice to the game, I will often ask more than one question at a time. After both teams have posted their answers, I will reveal who is correct and/or incorrect. Then, I will award points accordingly.
Got it?

Ok, so far we have three people who have said they would play. I guess that teams will only be four members then, and possibly only three since we aren't getting too big of a response.
So, do any of you three want to be one of the Captains? Do you care what team you are on, and who you will be with?
Agent0042

I guess I'll give my usual and say that I'll be a Captain, but only if nobody else wants to. It doesn't matter to me which team I'm on.
Oh, and you should consider 1_Winged's suggestion and do the PM thing so that we can get more people here.

Well, here is how the teams are looking right now:
Team 1 Captain-Agent0042
Member #1-1_W1nged_Angel
Member #2-Prak
Member #3-Ac-ace0
Member #4-Yet to be determined
Team 2 Captain-TBA
Member#1-ieatmako
Member#2-FFX-2 Al Bhed Gal
Member #3-Yet to be determined
Member #4-Yet to be determined
As you can see, Team 1 is probably finished, unless we get enough people to add. And Team 2 probably only needs two more members, unless I say that there are five people per team.
NOTE: Each captain's name will be in bold, so that all teammates recognize them as having the power!
1_W1nged_Angel, I will keep that in mind.

I think that answers your question. I figured that it would be unfair for me to play, because I would be greedy and try to answer all the questions. But, since I won't be using my knowledge of FFX with answers, I'll use it in the form of questions.

NOTE: Also, for any people that are already on a team, or who may be on a team, it would be better for you to come and visit often. I mean, it wouldn't be fair to Team 1, if everyone except for Agent , only came a few times a week. That right there would pretty much ruin the competition. It would be great if all team members would visit as much as possible.
Get what I'm saying?
EDIT: Now of course, I can't force you to make frequent stops to this thread. I'm just saying, that I want all team members to be devoted to this Team Trivia.
I have no problem doing captain duty. I check in frequently enough and know my stuff pretty well. However, let it be known that I am impartial. If there's someone who really wants to do it, they can have it.

I can only ask that you please play fair and responsibly. I can't force you not to cheat, because I have no idea of knowing if you are or not.
But, I would urge everyone to use their brains for the answers.

Or, someone could have just turned on the game, and counted them all. So, it is an easy answer to figure out, just that it takes a while to get it.

07-09-2004, 07:54 PM
NOTE: Does everyone like how I am doing this so far?
Actually, that was something I wanted to comment on, and I think I finally have it figured out. Wouldn't it be better if you asked one team their own question, and then asked the other team a different question? Or you could ask two separate questions at the same time. I do realize that would be double the work on you, but it seems more logical. Because it seems to me that with the way it is right now, it could basically end up that the other team just parrots the other's answer, because they're both publically answering the same question.
Vivi FF - do you agree it would be better that way?
Vivi FF
07-09-2004, 09:34 PM
Yeah, I agree with that. Cause I know I'm not looking at your team's answers, but maybe others from either team would. I would probably go with two different questions at the same time. And also, the questions should be fair and take place at the same time. So if one team answers a question within the first minute, they can't move on to the next question until the other team is done with theirs. That way, a team won't get massive points just cause their members are around longer.
Agent0042
07-09-2004, 11:51 PM
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. You cool with that, Smokey?

Actually, I asked how I was doing, because I thought that I was going about it pretty crappy. I just wanted to see if anyone else agreed with me on it. Yes, one team could post the answer, and then the other team just say the exact same answer, only worded different. That is a problem. So, I have decided to fix it. It isn't really double the work at all. I would just have to spend a little more time thinking about how to conspire the questions fairly to both teams. I suggest this:
I ask one question to Team 1, and then a completely different question to Team 2. I will try my best to not make it seem like one question is easier than the other. But, if that happens, there is really not much that I can do about it. So, here we go. And, oh yes, I have changed the team names:
Team Agent-2
Team Vivi-2
Even though I was going to award two points for answering both questions, I figured that I should just keep it at one. But, I will always ask the same number of questions to each team. Never will one team get the opportunity to earn more points than the other team from their questions. And, I will tell you ahead of time how many points you can get for each question. If I ask two questions at once to both teams, it is possible to get one point.
Here we go with the new and improved question asking to each team thingy:
Once you unlock the final monster inside the Monster arena, a very special item becomes available to your party. You can purchase this item from the guy standing right next to the Save Sphere at the Monster Arena.
Team 1 Question-What is the name of this item?
Team 2 Question-How much does this item cost?
Ok, each team will have 24 hours to post their answer. I think that is fair, since what are the odds that all five members of a team don't visit for that period of time? I find it extremely unlikely. So, I suggest that if a team has not answered their question by the time I am ready to announce the results (24 hours), then they automatically do not earn the point.
Now, does ALL of this sound fair, or is there something else that I have overlooked?
Vivi FF
07-10-2004, 12:08 PM
What? Knowing the price is so much harder than knowing the name! lol
I dunno how it's drilled into my head (darn you SG!), but it's 10,000 gil, right team?

Yeah, Vivi FF, I agree that you guys got hosed on that one.
I am 95% sure the answer on my team's is Clear Sphere, which lets you clear a node from the sphere grid and replace it with something else. What it does, I am sure of, but I'm not 100% sure on the name. So if somebody else on my team could confirm, I'd appreciate that too.

I, personally, am slightly confused with the question (I understand it, but it could have been worded differently for better comprehention).

I don't get it. If you unlock the item, then you would find out the name and price of it an once. I don't understand how Team Vivi got hosed on that one. I mean, both answers can be found at the same time.
Or maybe that is just how I see it. I purchased the item so many times, that I know everything about it. Still, I don't understand how you couldn't know the price of it, but you do know the name.
Oh well...
The name of the item is the Clear Sphere. Congrats Team Agent.
The Clear Node costs 10,000 gil. Congrats, Team Vivi.

Because if you ask me (and I think if you asked Vivi FF as well), the name is something that's a lot more memorable. Because I mean, say for example, you were to ask me "what's the name of the item specifically for curing Poison status?" I'm going to be able to tell you right off that's an Antidote, but hell if I know what it costs.
Oh, and one other thing. The name of the item is Clear Sphere, at least according to my copy of the U.S. English version of the game, which I just checked. I don't know what reference you're referring to, but if you wanna check without loading the game, just go to Google, type in "Clear Sphere" "Final Fantasy X" and compare that with how many hits you get for "Clear Node" "Final Fantasy X."
Point please. I'm going to see if my team has any thoughts on this question before saying anything.

You know what? I was probably thinking that Clear Node was the name of the item, while in reality it "Clears Node from Sphere Grid". So, I probably just got them mixed up. I don't have the game with me, and I actually now remember it saying Clear Sphere. The item is at the very bottom of what you can buy, and the Clear Sphere "Clears Node" from Sphere Grid. So, my mistake. Sorry Agent.

The biggest problem with that last kind of question is that it requires one team to know both answers. To be honest though, I was useless on that question because I never even knew such a sphere existed.
As for the new one though:

Ok I'm just going to go out and accept that but expand on it a little:
After capturing at least one of every monster in the Calm Lands, the Monster Arena Guy will award you with access to a treasure chest near the front of the Arena. Once you get the Celestial Mirror, you can use it to open the trasure chest wich contains Yuna's Nirvana.
If we need to describe how to power it up (the question doesn't say we do), then tell us so we can add to it.
Where are the other three on our team...? They didn't do as much. Still, feel free to comfirm or offer help to our answers.

In the interest of keeping things moving, I'm going to go ahead and answer for my team, because I remember now. (By the way, Vivi FF - having said that you got hosed on the price question, I was impressed that you were able to get the answer. Good work.)
The Godhand is fairly easy to get. Once you've got access to use the password feature for the Airship to unlock locations, you just go into it and put in GODHAND. It accepts the password and then a new location in the Bikanel Desert that I believe is called Sanubia Sands lights up on the destination selector. You go there and I'm pretty sure there's a treasure chest there and you open it up to get Godhand.
This is my final answer.

Oh no, will Agent's team ever answer? ;)

Gah. Where is my team? I swear they all just quit. And I think I know the answer, but it would be helpful if I could have some kind of confirmation. Or if they could answer sometimes. It would be nice not to be the only person answering. I guess I'm just going to have to PM them all and see if I can rally the troops, maybe prod them or something.
Edit: And yes, I am aware that 1_Winged is away. He has an excuse, the others don't.

Agent0042
07-13-2004, 03:02 PM
Okay, thanks for the update on that. I understand.
As for the answer, I'm afraid I'm going to have to reject. I know that 99,999 is the max damage on any single hit, but I think Smokey is trying to trick us by referring to the attack.
Now, as far as I know, the strongest attack, at least in the U.S. version, is Wakka's Attack Reels. I think that's 99999 * 21 which is 2,099,979 damage. Sound right to everyone, or do I have the number wrong? Or does Mindy's attack, Pasada I believe it is, do more damage?
I'm just going to guess that Passada or Passado or however you spell it hits for 15 times for a potential (although not likely) 1,499,985 damage and make that my final answer.

Ok, I hate to say it, but we have our first incorrect answer of the competition:

To answer Team Agent's question;
Passado is the strongest attack in the game. It is capable of dealing damage of 99,999 x16, which would total 1,599,984. Agent, you missed it by only 1! :(
It was still a great guess, considering how your team is isn't helping you too much.

Yeah, I have no idea either. At first I was going to say like Stamina Springs, cause that's what stuck out in my head, but since it's a sphere, I have no idea.
I'm guessing Mana Spheres and Power Spheres, but I have no idea. Team?
Skill sphere for strength. I'm sure of that one.
Dunno about the magic one though. We know the answers are all spheres though since Smokey said so. I'd say it's probably black magic spheres or white magic spheres. More likely to be black, I think.

I know the answer of the question! To get break MP limit you have to have 30 of the item Three Stars.

Actually, when she said Luca and the S.S. Liki, she wasn't referring to both answers. I'm not going to say whether that answer is correct or not yet. But, I think she meant that you could loan O'aka gil on the S.S. Liki while you are still in Luca. Therefore, that would signify one location:
In Luca, aboard the S.S. Liki is her answer. I'll accept that as soon as Vivi FF confirms it.
