Help!
I'm really confused, i've finally got a female river chocobo and a male mountain chocobo, but no matter what i do, i can't mate them.
I go to sleep everywhere i can, and they still are "just born",
I've even fought monsters and raced at the golden saucer.
what's going on?
I can't do a bit more in the game, cause i'm at the end... Help!

Hmm... try catching a few more chocobos and move around a lot (take the highwind for a ride for a good 30 minutes)...

I really don't know what sets the Chocobo's wait period before they can "do it" but I didn't have much of a problem with it.

What do you mean by that? You go to sleep everywhere? What has it to do with the chocobos?

Usually it took me a while to get a black chocobo too, and last week I found out why i didnt get it earlier. It took me a little longer, because I caught only two chocobos, one at the Gold Saucer area an the other one in the ice area. I was just looking, if I had one running fast (Gold Saucer, very rare) and one very fast running chocobo (ice area).

Well, it just took me forever sometimes. And now, I just do it the way you suppose to do it and it goes pretty quick.

Every round I tried it to get a black Chocobo, but I had to do it more times, because I needed a male black Chocobo. But the whole thing was no problem at all. ;)

Maybe you have to feed them a bit more. And never forget: Its never the same after you saved the game. So just go there, try to get a black chocobo. If you dont get one, dont save the game. Make a restart and try the same again. Sometimes it takes a while, but it works. And of course feed the right nut! :)

Oh yeah, it doesnt matter what you do or where you go, because I catch my Chocobos after Cloud is gone and I do the breeding right after I got him back. All you do is fighting around a bit between the breeding, because the Chocobos need time to relax....:D

Just keep fighting battles. When I was breeding them, I usually went about 10 battles and racing the chocobo I just raised to class S in the Gold Saucer and the chocobo would be grown up.

Cool thanx for the info, i'll try some of your tips and see if they work if not i'll write in again and ask.
Oh by the way Aerith, what i meant by "I got to sleep everywhere", is that i have heard that after you have breeded, another chocobo you must go to sleep alot for it to be grown up, in the Inns etc. But it dosen't work for me. :(
Hmm life sucks sometimes.
P.S. Aerith i love your pic.

Yeah thats what I thought, but it doesnt work. It has nothing to do with the chocobo breeding.

Just make sure you made the river and the mountain chocobo out of a walking Chocobo (Gold Saucer area) and a running chocobo (Mideel). Feed them, raise them at the Chocobo race (till you got them on A or S).

If not, itll take forever to get one (look at my first post).

You only have to do battles, if they dont allow you to breed a new one because the Chocobos are new (well they need to rest). If they say that, go and fight a bit more. If not you can do the breeding. Just make sure you gave em enough food and raised them till Choco Level A or S.

Then do it the way I told you. Try to get a black one, if not resart the game and try it again.... keep doing that till you got one. Thats the best way! :)

Hey, I just got done breeding my Gold Chocobo, and ran into the same problem with the river and the mountain. I tried the inn thing and it didn't work. So I thought before I moved on with the storyline I'd catch my wonderful to get it out of the way. Well, as a test, after putting the wonderful in the stables, it let me breed the blue and green ones.

Thats interessting! I cant say anything to that, because I always catch the wonderful at first (is the one in the ice area, isnt it? Sorry forgot the name of that place). :)

Yes, wonderful is the tracks near Icicle Town.

Off topic, but was it me or does it seem that the good is the most hardest to catch? I got wonderful and great on the first try.

Well the one close to the Icicle town is easier to catch. I dont know what it is. But it doesnt take too long to get it. But some people say it is the hardest. Baybe the first one you catch is easier than the others but Im not sure....

So dont worry it is not just you .....I got the same problem...;)

If you just breeded thoes Chocobos, then you can't mate them. Chocobos that were just born cannot be breeded. You also cannot mate the baby with its parents. You have to progress through the game a little more after you just breeded them then check back regularly. Some also have to be at a certant class to breed. If you get the wrong Chocobo, then just reset the game. The Chocobo you get is random. There is also stuff about Chocobos at http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/game/20052.html.
