it's not my job to act like a moderator and patrol the forums for asshole trolls. i'm here to browse for music and have light hearted banter with other civilized people. if i see something i'll report it, but that will only do so much.

Well, many, many people have told me to "just ignore it" when this stuff happens. It is **hard** for me to do that, and I am not always able to. But, much as it pains me to say, "they're" right. The best thing to do is completely ignore that member. Never ever respond to their post. Never acknowledge they exist or are participating in the thread. Nothing. Nadda. Then, he/she gets no attention and amusement. They may not stop, but that is really the only good path to take.

And, if someone posts a particularly bothersome comment about you, simply click the report button. It does not depend so much on WHO you are as WHERE you are. You can get away with a lot more in the General Discussion thread. Waaayyy more. Just look at some of the thread titles. In the download sections, that behavior is tolerated less.

I DO think the name needs changing. We do have younger members here and there, and a fair few for whom that language is offensive. Just a thought. As I recall, my profile description was edited by mods, presumably due to language I used.

Just make an account and keep your list of sessions updated. Then find the members who have the sessions you want and offer what you have in exchange. I don't think I have any better pointers than that. People don't really seem to give stuff away for free over there.

Sooo...basically it went like this, Sparky. Gilly got offended by Frackingham's language and attitude. So he decided to post this thread announcing his anger. He ranted, and poked at the tiger, who of course responded. Gilly called for a ban, and acted as if he were going to do it, even though he is not a mod. Frackingham offered Gilly a shiny toy, so Gilly decided Frackingham was not so bad after all, and then started requesting various scores from Frackingham in this thread. Frackingham is indeed banned, but we don't really know when or why, though we can guees. When I called Gilly on it, he decides "let's just delete this thread", again as if it is his decision, and not the mod's. Basically, to wipe out a fairly pointless rant, as if it never happened and he had no part in it. I have had more than my fair share of drama and rants, but I aleays own up to it.

In another interesting test, they had dogs bark into a recorder in different situations. (hungry, sad, happy, etc), and then had random strangers listen and try to identify the emotion in the bark. Over two thirds answered correctly, even though it was not their particular dog. In another test, they set out to see if dogs could really read our faces. Again, we seem to read the left side of a face first when determining an emotion in social settings. Most species look at our whole face. But by tracking human eye movements it shows we look at the left side first. Tracking a dog's eye movements revealed they do the same. They literally do read faces the same way we do. I found it all very interesting.

Of course, none of these tests were done on a cat, to compare data. Perhaps they will do, if they can ever catch one and get it to tolerate the experiments....
