A war happened between the Dragoons and these fairy like people, and Dart is the main character, and his dad supposedly died in the war, but ends up being the main bad guy in a Star Warsy type thing, and you have to kill all the dragons... for some reason.

That's all I remember. Great combat system in the game though.

Yeah, and then the final-final boss is God, who's out to destroy the world because it was his plan to destroy everything all along, regardless of which race won the war. Or something like that.

Oh, wait, that's FF Tactics, sorry.

I really love this game. To me, it comes pretty close to FF and its my 2. favorite RPG. ;)

The story is about the moon child and the black monster. People say, every xxx years (was it 107 years?) a moon child will be born and bring pleasure to the people.....but it cant, because the black monster always kills the moon child.

They also tell you about the past dragon wars, and the people who had control over their dragons, called the dragoons.

Its all in the past, but the circle with the moon child beeing born and get killed again keeps going on. The world seems to die.....and that is the time for new dragoons again...... :D

Well, I cant explain the whole game in one line (and I havent played for a while either), but the ones who know the game should be able to remember. :)

To the others I can only say: Play it !!!!!

Its a classic RPG with the good, the bad guys, the kings, the princess and whatever. And if you like FF you should like Legend of Dragoon too.

This is what I know about the Legend of Dragoon's storyline (This is taken from the Prima Games official strategy guide) -

A magical land created by the divine arbiter, Soa. Soa brought forth a Divine Tre to bear fruit to a barren and lifeless world. In all, 108 fruits were born from Soa's Divine Tree. From these fruits came 108 races. Of these, Dragons were the 105th race, humans the 106th and the superhuman Winglies the 107th. The 108th race, or Virage, as it was called, was told to be the god of destruction in legends handed down through the generations. But, why would Soa create simply to destroy it all in the end?

Regardless of the god's reasoning, peace reigned Endiness for many millennia, but it was not to be forever. A great war once raged on this beautiful land; It came to be known as the Dragon Campaign. The Winglies had become too powerful, enslaving not only humans, but other races as well. Over time, humans could no longer tolerate slavery to the Winglies. Under the guidance of the Emperor Diaz, and the aid of the Dragoons, the humans fought a war to end all wars.

Humans learned to harness the spirit and powers of the dragons, transforming themselves into Dragoons. Seven warriors fought to bring back peace and equality to a land gone awry. The Winglies were led by Melbu Frahma, who harnessed the powers of the god of destruction. This was the main source of the Wingly magic.

Commanded by Zieg, the Red-Eye Dragoon, Rose and the other five courageous Dragoons (Shirley the Silver-White Dragoon, Belzac the Gold Dragoon, Kanzas the Purple Dragoon, Damia the Blue Dragoon and Syuveil the Green Dragoon.) fought in the Winglies floating palace. But, with his last ounce of energy, Melbu cast a spell of petrification on Zeig. The Red-Eye Dragoon gave his life to save the others. Only Rose lived to tell of the Dragoon Campaign.

That's the back story to Legend of Dragoon. Where the player comes in, controlling the warrior Dart, returning to his village of Seles. On the way he has a narrow miss with the green dragon, Feybrand. He owes his safety to Rose, the same Rose who survived the Dragon Campaign, which had been fought a thousand years prior (Sorry, it's either a thousand or ten thousand, I'm not sure which). You find out later that Rose is the Black Monster, causing destruction throughout the ages, in it's quest to destroy the Moon Child.

Unfortunately for Dart, his childhood friend, Shana, is this generation's incarnation of the Moon child... well, half that is. She had a twin sister who the Black Monster had destroyed along with all the crew of a ship (On Disc 2, when you're onboard the Queen Fury, you encounter a ghost ship. This is were you find out a bit of information, but as usually, more questions than answers are revealed.).

Throughout the game, more information is revealed about what has happened in the past and the consequences of those actions now in the future.

There is a tie between the new Purple Dragoon, Haschel and Dart. Dart's father, was none other than Zieg the Red-Eye Dragoon. The spell of petrification cast upon him by Melbu Frahma, wore off over time, and Zieg met a woman named Claire. This Claire is the daughter of Haschel, who has been searching for her for years.

I could say more about this game, but I think I've already put too much down. This game is a great RPG, IMO that is. I think that this title, amongst other great RPG's out there, is proof that not just Square can make some great RPG's. I'm not a FF basher, far from it. I'm a huge fan of the FF games, but I prefer to give other RPG's a go, and see how they play and feel as well.

But that's enough of my sermon. I wonder how many flames I'll get in response to this?

I liked this game a lot. I've heard a lot of people complain about the storyline and the like, but I liked it a lot. The battle system was fun, and the ending made me sniffle a bit.

Haven't played it in ages. Maybe I'll track my old copy down.
