Initially I wasn't going to share this here since you guys were so super-helpful in helping me find it ... :(

Anyway, this music is just too good not to share. Clearly the best film score of 1988/89, so here goes:

The Return of the Musketeers is a 1989 film adaptation loosely based on the novel Twenty Years After
by Alexandre Dumas, pre. It is the third Musketeers film directed by Richard Lester, following 1973's
The Three Musketeers and 1974's The Four Musketeers. Like the other two films, the screenplay
was written by George MacDonald Fraser. The character of Mordaunt, Milady de Winter's son in the original novel,
is replaced by Milady's daughter, called Justine de Winter. Several cast members from the first two reprised their
roles in this one. Jean-Pierre Cassel, who played Louis XIII in the original films, has a cameo appearance as
Cyrano de Bergerac. While filming was taking place in September 1988, character actor Roy Kinnear died following
an on-camera accident in which he fell off a horse. His role was completed by using a stand-in, filmed from the rear,
and dubbed-in lines from a voice artist.

Thanks Wimpel,
but remember that mega.co.nz download links are accessible only through Google Chrome which in turn runs only on newer Macs, excluding mine... :-(
So any other site would be preferrable to Mega

Thanks for the tip, Salad
but I can't use Jdwnloader either (it requires Java 1.6
which I can't install). What's worse, Google Chrome
for Windows runs on OSs as old as Windows2000, so once
again Mac users are penalized...
Still a lot of people complain about Mega.co's
encryption system being incompatible with most browsers,
that's why I wouldn't recommend it

Coincidentally, yesterday, when I looked into my DVD boxes to check if I want to pick some old stuff to watch again, the first one I took out is Cyrano, with music from the same composer.

Thank you for the share!

Great composer!
By the way, looking for his score for the film "Le Zbre".
Anyone?

Now if they'd just release the film on DVD I'd be happy....

This is really a fantastic soundtrack by a composer that I had not known before you posted. I sought out other soundtracks by Petit, but it seems most are OOP (expensive if buying used) or not even released.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing this jewel. :)

Many thanks wimpel69.
What with your many 'Classical' superposts, the extra time and effort you put into your other individual posts (threads) is remarkable.
Again heartfelt thanks for another quality share.

It was a compounded tragedy. The death of Roy Kinnear distressed Richard Lester to the point that he vowed never to direct again.
