Dead Space (Expanded Score)

17 tracks, TRT: 1:26:41, 320 MP3

Note: not entirely sure of the source for this but I believe it is an edit created from the video game source audio files so I can't give the proper credit. If you download this and it's yours, thank you! I attempted my own rip but gave up due to the complexity and sheer annoyance of piecing it all together. The album had 17 tracks running 61 minutes. This set features 17 tracks and runs nearly 87 so my assumption I feel is correct. You may not want to turn the volume all the way up on this one. Contrary to playing the game, the sudden jarring stingers and super loud ambient cues don't fare as well on album but the Dead Space trilogy scores make a great shuffle item for your iPod so you can space the more uncomfortable cues out unless you're the masochistic type that likes to subject themselves to each score at a time. Hey, do your thing. I will do mine. No judgment here.

I also used this as ambient filler in my newest work, Symphony No. 4: Murder on the Night Plains Vol. 1 (Thread 139264)

Note: not much is known of this release either. It sourced from here but I wasn't able to acquire it here so unfortunately I can't credit the original ripper either as I can't remember who it is.

First thing you will notice right off the bat is it starts out very heavy in action and doesn't really let up for much time. The space in between is nicely filled with creepy ambient pieces to give you sort of a breather so overall I loved this set and recommend it. Some pieces may be sourced from the official album but I can't say for sure. The mixing on some of the cues resembled my own personal copy of the album's peaks while others either didn't or were missing completely from the album. The more Dead Space, I say, the better so considering this is almost 27 minutes extended from the album, we're on the right track.

As much as I liked the music, I found the game a little difficult to get through so I did not finish. It is a title I would love to re-visit so I will do that at some point.

I also used this in Symphony No. 4: Murder on the Night Plains Vol. 1.

Dead Space 3 (Expanded Score)

28 tracks, TRT: 1:44:16, 128/320 MP3

Note: this is a combination of the official album and the exclusive tracks from the promo album that is now extremely rare to find. In contrast to the official album, I found 7 tracks totalling 21:58 that were exclusive to the promo that unfortunately were only released in 128 MP3 so there were some compromises. The album was already at a hefty running time of 82 minutes so the added 22 minutes added to an already great thing regardless of the bitrate. In the video game world, you get what you're given and you don't complain. How often have the recording sessions for a video game been leaked? I'm sure it's happened but it hasn't happened to the Dead Space franchise and that's the point I'm trying to drive.

Right from the get-go, you will notice the sound just gets bigger and better from the previous 2 scores showcasing some fantastic action cues alongside the series' infamous suspense ambient cues which get beefed up to the max in this set. I played the demo for this game but having not finished Dead Space 2, I didn't want to play further. Another title I will re-visit in the future.

With the new Batman: Arkham Origins, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix and South Park: Stick of Truth (FINALLY!!!) games coming out, my video game queue is looking a little pre-occupied to re-visit these any time soon. I will definitely purchase them just for that special occasion however.

I used a few of the action cues from this in Symphony No. 4: Murder on the Night Plains Vol. 1. They really helped beef up the finale.

Awesome! The music, although at times difficult to listen to, deserves its own thread of expanded albums. Thanks for putting this together, codyap09!

I would be terribly happy to have this, Dead Space is one of my favorite series of all time, but all of the links are down and OPs pm folder is full! How terrible! Hopefully they (or someone else) still have their hands on a copy.
