How come when I ignore a user, it still shows their name and everything.
I can still click "View post" if I want to.
I thought the point was to make it look like they disappeared entirely, no?

That's how vBulletin (doesn't) work.

That's... evil.
So, so, so evil.

That's how it works. By ignoring them, you're at least given the option of whether you want to see their post or not rather than it being just out there.

Never understood ignore. So, somebody posts and I don't like them - fine, I ignore them... I still see all the conversation around them which now makes no sense because I don't know what they said - unless somebody quotes them in which case I've failed to ignore them.
Best to just "manually" ignore them - ie, disregard their posts if they bother you to that extent.

I thought it was to invoke the ideal behind "remove all temptation".
But it's really more like saying "I'll quit looking at nudy magazines and just hide them in a box in the closet rather than throw them out entirely".
By having the option to "view post", I'm still liable to do the Devil's Handy Work and commit sin with my impure hands.

As far as I know, the "ignore" feature worked like that ever since it was implemented in vBulletin. Maybe something could be done about the size of the 'box', but as for removing it entirely... I honestly don't know if that's possible :(
At any rate, don't blame the tool, if you feel the urge to view the hidden message, it simply means you don't really want to ignore the guy :D ;)

Yes, what Tangotreats stated, that's what I do with all his posts.
:-D
