Is the game worth playing? I love the Mega Man X series (well, X1-4), but missed out on playing this game when it was released.

Well, it isn't everybody's cup of tea. I am replaying it right now and finish finished of it. It's pretty fun once you get the hang of it and you stat discovering new tactics, abilities and weapons. I like it a lot so I'd recommend it. Try watch a few videos of it on Youtube, walkthrough 1 and such so it doesn't spoil a lot.
