This is the unexpectedly GRAND music for the unexpectedly FUN, COMIC, EXCITING and best version of the story ever filmed- actually filmed as TWO movies and released separately (devilish producers who learned through law suits not to do that again). What a surprise to witness previews for sequel at the end of the credits.... set to a crescendo of music.
So this is more than promising. It's a modern classic. Oh- and established Requel Welsh as more than just boobs but a delightful comic actress.

As a small clarification on Phideas said about the production. The movie was actually SHOT as one movie -- but released as two. That was the basis for the lawsuit. Strangely, the actors (lead by Charlton Heston) thought that if they had signed up for two movies, appeared in two movies, they should be paid for two movies. Instead, they were duped. The courts sided with them, and there's now standard contract language preventing this sort of behavior.
The score for the "sequel", The Four Musketeers, was done by Lalo Schiffrin.

I thought that is what I wrote. The same producers did the same thing with SUPERMAN... but learned their lesson. Hence a lot of the sequel for Superman was shot along with the first film but the actors knew it this time. Of course one would think if you are handed a four hour script you would catch on....

Hello. Please could I have the link for this score. I bought it years ago in HMV and it sees to have got mislaid. A great seventies romp of a classic tale by Alexandre Dumas (I think). Oliver Reed was very good in this movie, as they all were. It has also got a good sense of humour running through it, along with Richard Lesters direction and topped off by a damned good score. All for one and one for all!

I NEVER SEND A LINK VIA A THREAD. NEVER.
I like the thread to be filled with comments about the music to create conversation.

A cover is included in the download. I don't know how to put covers into the forum posts. Peter P tried to explain once, my brain seized up. Covers do not matter to me. Just the music.
Seems like quite a few folks are not aware of this version of the film. Probably the best Richard Lester movie, in my opinion (I did not enjoy Robin and Marian).
The opening sequence with the swords clashing in such a unique visual style accompanied by the music is remarkable. The dialogue free conclusion of the film with only the actors playing their roles to the hilt (pun intended) as the music builds is also remarkable.
Go forth and RENT this movie you innocent tribbles! This has great actors and is great, great fun.

Thanks a lot for the link.
Good stuff, and quite different to Schifrin's sequel score.
Anyone know why Legrand didn't do both? You'd think making two films at once, you'd at least want consistency in themes and motifs....

Awesome share.
I must say that Legrand is becoming more and more interesting for me.. I think I "typecasted" too soon Legrand some years ago... Trying some mind change right now!
