Maybe there will be a special edition later on down the line like there was for the first film
I can understand. At the time I just thought it was outrageous. But trust me, I understand the enthusiasm for a score. Hell, I think I’m more excited for the MoS score than I am for the actual film! Now that I mention it, I’m calling it: I say it won’t be long before someone requests the sessions for it. Within the next 2 weeks. I dare the people to prove me wrong
Then again, if scorepranos were to get it…
A Deluxe Edition, on the other hand, is quite likely to happen.
May be a completely flawed argument, but someone mentioned (don’t remember if on here) that the reason for the initial 45-min OST release is that Varese are a small label who are unable to afford bigger 2CD releases straight up. Then how did House of Cards (a technically smaller property) get a nearly-complete 2CD release right off the bat? Or is it the same choir/licensing problem as with 09? Or Varese just want to milk it?
Alas, having is not necessarily as satisfying as wanting.
Au revoir,
B
Any chance of knowing the slates, titles and cue lengths?
So the temp ban meant nothing to you, and you are still trying to deal on the threads? This’ll be pleasurable. 🙂
Ah. I love reporting your posts. So much, in fact that any post you make regarding trying to trade this crap score openly will reported. Any response of yours that is in any way rude, disrespectful or vulgar will get reported.
:lolsolis:
The mission, should you choose to accept it, is to share your gems, and funny enough, others will be moved to share with you. I have seen it myself.

Was speaking to someone about it, and the answer basically is – licensing fees for CD releases with performers who are members of the AFM. Hence why people like Brian Tyler, Alan Silvestri and Marc Streitenfeld (and Zimmer with TDKR I think?) recorded their scores in London.
When a US-recorded (i.e. AFM) CD sells more than 15,000 copies, extra fees must be paid to the AFM for every minute of music used. Hence Varese cutting the Star Trek OSTs down to 45 minutes, and releasing limited (5,000) copy Deluxe Edition.

The Deluxe Edition didn’t include the choir on tracks that weren’t on the OST IIRC, so I’d assume they’d done that to limit the costs?
Seems that way…
I’m back!
I’m back!
Nobody believes you without proof. You should know that. And no score is worth 2000 bucks… no score!
I’m back!
AWW HELL? NAW – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im_5QdHp04E)
Well. It is worth exactly whatever amount people are willing to pay for it.
I try to behave, play according to your rules … and what do I get? More shady inquiries, more distrust, more security paranoia. No progress.
Back off! I will NOT share the Star Trek Into Fuckness sessions. I can wait without ruffle or excitement for the Deluxe set.
If I can, you can do it, too
Dear mods, would you please stop tracking my IP, for Christ’s sake!? What did you expect? I`m fucking London-based!

2. Only reason that people are pestering you apart from asking to share/buy – some kind of proof that you actually have them. Yes, even the other big-name score lord on here doubts you (hope saying that is fine)
3. Everyone else, seems like it’s not going to happen at this rate, the other person involved backed out last minute as far as I know…
You’ve all been had.

This is a very odd post even for you.
Anyhoo, **any** inquiries regarding these (or any) sessions is shady, seeing as by trying to sell them, you are trafficking in stolen goods. You’d have to absolutely prove what they are, and then arrange a physical transaction. Distrust…that surprises you? Really/
:noonecares:
So…shady? Why yes. You do not hold the copyright for the material. It is essentially stolen. By definition, dealings of that type are "shady".
Distrust…? Well, need to know info, such as how do I know it is real? Kinda goes with the territory.
Paranoia over security? We all get that just trading on sites. I imagine actually buying illegal music is much more sensitive. For example, how do I know you’re not a cop? Or a hacker of some sort looking for info? Or just a vanilla crook looking to make easy money? I mean, you are already selling stolen items, what chance is there you are not trying to steal from me?
The NATURE of what you are doing brings out these factors. We all justify ourselves, but truly all of this is illegal. What makes you think this is just another random purchase? Youre buying/selling items you have no rights to. I actually dislike that a bit. Sharing freely (still illegal) is one level, profiting is another, kinda seedier one.
Long post, Amanda. Did I tell you I never read long posts? It’s a fucking waste of time.
If a post’s too long, too hostile or just plain hypocritical, I just focus on one expression in it I like and ignore the rest.

I know people from London (I’m even moving there in a few years) and none of them say Guv.
I bet they’re hipsters 😉
Trying to figure out how an English dance act could ever be construed as an insult…
Okay, okay, I’ll ignore this repugnant troll now. I’d suggest everybody else ignores this douchebag too.

Not likely unless he has a scorepranosesque shift in personality. In any case, I still doubt the legitimacy of his claim to have them.
It’s just attention. Just a little boy waving his dick around trying to impress everyone else, but no one’s interested
Enough, that you needed to reply. Can someone with the authorization please shut down this thread?
And not a single fuck was given,

I just thought I’d put that out there.
OMGz! I’ll send him a PM!!
I also hear that the hair on my head and the blood in my veins is mine 😉
Hydraulic fluid and other mechanically fluid.
Also that hair isn’t exactly made out of fiber hair molecules.
But definitely a cosmetic improvement over the first film.

AH! BUT…
Close enough.
Now does she bleed?
Of course she does, look how pissed she is at Witwicky!
Impractical to us and holds no value.
The fluid is designed entirely for Cybertronian sentients (Autobot or Decepticon or other).
Largely serves to help adapt to local weather in any given situation.
Other purposes are unknown to us but the robots definitely know its worth and value.
Completely disposable resource. Once spilled from a bot, it cannot be collected and refined or filtered for reuse.
They tried it and that’s how we ended up with the two racist black robots in Revenge of the Fallen.
It’s all on the Michael Bay forums.
No it’s not, but now the fluids have a back story
Of course, hello…period?
🙁 It does. It really does.
You won’t believe the great lengths I’ll go through to make one simple little detail work.
"Why the hell is that pencil sitting there in the middle of the screen?"
…Disney Pixar’s "Lead"
(read as either "lead the way" or "the lead in the pencil")
Of course, hello…period?
Ha, you got it. 😉

It’s very difficult to cleanly extract the music – a lot of SFX in different channels, and instruments broken up across channels as well like the first film.
Anyway, I hope Garage jumps onto this like he did with Gatsby to tide us over until deluxe/or whenever the sessions leak…
I’ll mix down and post the first part, the other bits have already been released officially (London Calling, Ode to Harrison – well kind-of – and Star Trek Main Theme)
UPD: https://soundcloud.com/antovolk/star-trek-into-darkness-end
I saw a documentary in which in the first film "To Boldly Go" has an extended ending with a reprise of the six-note theme that ends other cues in the finale rather than going straight into Alexander Courage’s primary theme. That means that perhaps Into Darkness preserves the original as-written composition of the intro for "End Credits" there too.
As I also understand it, all of Ode To Harrison is meant to bridge the gap between Courage’s theme and Giacchino’s, but for some reason it got cut out.
Thanks,
Rob

Awesome! I checked ASCAP a couple of weeks back and there was nothing there… Anyway, thank you! 🙂
I was more dedicated to TLK, funnily enough. I just thought doing what I did there by getting cue names would help. I won’t deny that I really like this score though.

Wow I’m surprised that there’s not one cue mentioning Khan I mean there’s 2 cues containing "John Harrison", but you would think the other name would be there. I thought for sure there’d be one called "My Name is Khan"
Well, I certainly won’t be the one being bitched at when people find out the spoiler you’ve just revealed…
Ah. I love reporting your posts. So much, in fact that any post you make regarding trying to trade this crap score openly will reported. Any response of yours that is in any way rude, disrespectful or vulgar will get reported.
Unless it’s in the Butthurt forum, and the complaint is like from getting burned in a trade, then it better be subject oriented!!
I know you were. I’m just saying it will be a relief to not be bitched at 😉
Props to them for doing so. Whatever you think of the movie, the score was top notch and the morons at Varese Sarabande put out half a CD’s worth of tracks. Meanwhile, we get 3 versions of the craptastic MOS score.
And another one – https://soundcloud.com/antovolk/you-will-run-this-bastard-down
MP3 not worth uploading as this is from Russian AC3 track which is only 384kbps and cleaner in some bits…
You’re late to the party. The discussion moved away from that ages ago.
You’re in the REQUEST section. This is for Star Trek: Into Darkness. There are 5 pages in this thread (and growing), and so far nothing has come out. Of course the iTunes release isn’t all there is, Recording Sessions exist. But no one wants to post them. So to answer your question, no one can help you at the moment. Read through the pages and you will find a few cues that antovolk has ripped from the Blu-ray
back in the 70s and 80s we would go to movies and record them on audio tape and we called these cinelogues or cinemalogues. but that was the entire film in audio form. rocky horror was pressed onto 2 lps this way. it actually existed as a 5 sided lp set. sides 2 and 5 were on the same side in order to not cut a song in half.
when vhs became more common i would connect my vcr to an audio deck and make audio tapes of my videos. not only films but very often concerts that didnt have audio counterparts. there were many of these. it still happens. sometimes the dvds of performances that are released are slightly different than the cd versions. and sometimes the dvds have more songs than the cds that correspond to them have. one that im still working on trying to get the complete performance is david gilmour from gdansk poland from several years ago.
depending on the source there are loads of extra songs and no one source has all of the songs. its impossible. wikipedia helps on this.
i thank u for your info here.. i will try and find all of these clips u mention and hope i can piece together more than a few mins worth listening to. thank u.
some assembly required the avengers post credits trailer music – the file isnt there. all others were fine and i dl’d them in a total of less than 10 seconds. very kind of u to offer these things.
Nah, it was interesting all the same! 😀
Hell yes! the man is very resourceful and imaginative in his music. I just watched the film yesterday and loved it, and the score was just the icing on the cake for me. I just read all this thread and despite some rather ‘uneventful’ and ‘inane’ posts plaguing the first half of it, someone mentioned that this one might get a deluxe edition as well. I also read this morning that the deluxe version for the original film was announced/released nearly a year after the original release. If there is any certainty that a deluxe edition will be released, who exactly would make such announcement? and is it done with the composer’s consent or it goes directly on behalf of Varse?
It’s my understanding the DE for ST09 was almost complete, whereas the sessions provided alternate choir material. Not sure what’s gonna happen with this score…
Aggh, I have been biting my fingers to stumps waiting for a deluxe version for this score.
Aggh, I have been biting my fingers to stumps waiting for a deluxe version for this score.
I’ve learned never to trust media publishing companies (see complete SW scores for the prequels).
I heard it was a tracked mess, like the TPM ultimate edition.
It’s nowhere near that bad. The worst it has is choirless tracks.
I heard it had loops… etc.
I wish. 🙁
Not here. There has not even been an official Deluxe has there? Maybe there just won’t be. As for sessions…remember how we were warned all those big leaks would lead to tighter control and less leaks later? well…
Keep in mind the movie is relatively recent. It could be years before this shows. No need to bump though. If it showed it’d be big news. Although as a varese release it would be via pm only…whenever it shows. IF it shows. Certainly not everything does. Maybe the previous movie’s Deluxe just did not sell enough for them to bother this time around?
And they’re probably not in the office for the next week or two anyway….
It’s ok. Give them time. They are pretty retarded so it’ll take a while for them to come up with an intelligible thought.
Given that there has being rumours of the sessions since June, it shouldn’t take too long. Apparently it’s 58 cues. I had a tracklist a while ago, I checked it with the photos on Giacchino’s Instagram, and it was accurate (though the list didn’t had slates, just names, some we’re included in the photos).
About Fuckingham, he has being lying all this time. You would think this guy would take the opportunity of getting new sessions for free instead of asking money for the STID sessions.
It’ll come when it’ll come, although Amanda’s right: if a certain somebody had held off on a few of those gems there’d have been a higher chance of getting a little bit more, although I won’t deny a few of them were a long time coming anyways (TLK and Spider-Man 3 to name a couple).
While we’re on the subject, am I the only one who finds the re-recording of End Credits superior to the original recording of End Credits from 2009?
It is a trait common with most media corporations (or most corporations in general). But Varese takes it to another level at times. The only thing they are on the ball on is anti-piracy.
Forgot to ask this. Did any of those titles match up with those I posted off ASCAP?
Yes. Though Man Vs. Blaster is splitted on the ASCAP page, but in both the tracklist and the photo of Giacchino’s Instagram, was a single cue.
– Khan’s theme deconstructed as he warps from the small jet.
– Another variation as he warps on Kronos.
– Khan’s theme rendered as a sort of march as he is cuffed and escorted aboard the Enterprise
I also love the very dark material when Khan assumes command of the Vengeance as he crushes Marcus’ skull.
Listening to the score again there is much in common or in similar style with John Williams (which is a good thing) I wish this score is leaked here soon but if released officially I’d buy it without hesitation – lots of fun and energetic pieces.
Do you by any chance still have that tracklist? Is it similar to the ASCAP stuff?
I concur. It’d be nice to at least know what all the the cues were called.
I just watched the film for the third time and I am now reeling more music wasn’t released. The CD ignores all of the Marcus theme variations which in itself is a variation of the part of the main titles/end credits theme.

I also think it bears similarities to his work on the Medal of Honor series: some passages are eerily similar.

**really**?
You sat through this….**movie** more than once??
I mean, after seeing it once, KNOWING what was in store, you went back twice? Good God man….
I can’t comment on the score. The trauma of seeing what was playing on-screen has damaged my memories. Was there a score? All I heard was myself laughing out loud by the time of the Khan/Spock/Uhura fist fight….
Although this was a masterpiece compared to the Lone Ranger which I just had the *****pleasure***** of seeing yesterday. For free. Not as in not paying to see it (although I didn’t), but as in no one reimbursed me for damages after having seen it….:(

Someone understands!!!! I still have no idea what everybody seems to see in this movie. Is it all the ‘splosions?? The Enterprise going underwater? Spock in a giant volcano? None of these things mean anything when all the characters have been turned into ignorant, self-obsessed jerks!
The score’s quite good though. Better than Giacchino’s 2009 effort IMHO.
I loved Into Darkness the same way I enjoyed Trek 09 I wasn’t a Trek fan before that film and after seeing it, it had me watching TOS, TNG, VOY and a few episodes of DS9 and Enterprise. Into Darkness felt like a nice continuation of the last film and Giacchino’s score certainly helped some of the weaker moments of the film.
Here’s a few tid-bits I had with the film:
• Harrison’s revelation as the villain Khan in the film was so unnecessary. Given the alternate timeline and this essentially a reboot of the franchise, we don’t know who Khan is other than what Old Spock tells us after the fact as Khan reveals himself. So when Benedict Cumberbatch says rather chillingly and with dramatic poise: “My name is…Khan” It didn’t bring any meaning or weight to the name it should have.
• Kirk follows Carol Marcus onto a shuttle so she can explain why she’s there and what significance the 72 missiles have to the plot. She asks him to turn around so she can change into a different suit. He turns back when she’s mid-dressing and she just stands there in her underwear. Apart from the obvious things of seeing a woman undress it felt unnecessary here but she should have bloody said before- hand that she was changing or when Kirk turns back around that she should hurry to cover herself… or perhaps she wanted him to see?
I dunno, I know friends of mine hated the film too, but maybe I’m just crazy!!

So, was Pacific Rim your favorite movie this year? I didn’t think it was that great. Although, it had amazing visuals, and a great guitar-styled score. Although, the End Titles song was not that great. They could have left that out. It didn’t match the film very well. The Croods was very good I think, did you enjoy the score at all? I believe that Alan Silvestri did an amazing job, even one of the cues in the beginning of the film consisted of a high-school band! (The cue where they are trying to steal the Egg from that was from that bird that was pretty strange looking.) I believe the cue was 1m5 Smash and Grab. Man of Steel was also pretty good I think. The score in the film is definitely better than what you hear on the Album (Deluxe or OST). The film I think was a big one, but I think people were pretty disappointed about it..I was not. You did not like The Lone Ranger? It was a pretty long film, although I thoroughly enjoyed that score, not the OST as much. (besides the Finale track, that’s my favorite on the OST) Other than that, I’d really like to have the sessions to that film as well, it seems as if only Hans Zimmer’s scores can be enjoyed with the Sessions/Complete Scores. That’s the way I see it, I believe most would agree with that as well. How could you not like Olympus Has Fallen? I thought it was really great, for being an action film and a short one at that. Only an hour and thirty minutes or so. Have you listened to the score by Trevor Morris? I thought it was really well done, although the Theme sounds very similar to this one track in Pearl Harbor, if I remember correctly. But, then again, I guess Trevor was inspired by Zimmer, since that is how he got into to the Film Composition business. (He worked for Zimmer in RCP) Wreck-it Ralph was really good, score, visuals, animation, story, everything. I really enjoyed it, I probably saw it at least five times in the theaters 🙂 haha. And, the short film before it was very creative indeed. Almost, as good as La Luna. Christophe Beck’s score was very nice for the short film, glad they released that on iTunes back a while ago! I think those films were pretty good, however the other ones you listed I have not seen at all. I’m guessing some of them were good as you put a 🙂 face next to the Film title’s name.

ARROW :awsm:
THE FLASH DEATHSTROKE THE TERMINATOR SOLOMON GRUNDY :awsm:
The only score I cared for are the ones I mentioned. I adore pacific rim. I dug it totally. It was exactly what it advertised. Giant robots vs monsters. They explained the robot workings just enough to be able to roll with it. It had **just** enough character development and plot to hang the action on. The action was phenomenal. The tributes to anime’ styles was just enough to be subtle yet there for fans. And they did not care to get too awful scientific, they just went for it with gusto. Much like battleship did.
TV shows are as follows: The Mentalist, Once Upon A Time, Major Case, Rizzoli And Isles, Drop Dead Diva, The Monday CBS comedy line-up. Mostly the drama crime investigation though. There is a definite lack of good sci-fi on right now. I enjoy the occasional SyFy "experience" for good laughs.

I agree with him, you should watch some Arrow, the score is also very amazing. I’m not that into TV Shows but I do enjoy The Big Bang Theory haha 🙂

So, odds of Gia actually doing a deluxe edition after the score concerts in London at the end of May?

No idea. I’m leaning towards next to zilch.
I came in the film, like the first, at an angle where I wasn’t really into the older series and I came out thinking "Wow, you know what, I’m going to check out TOS, TNG, VOY and DS9, maybe ENT if I can muster that much admiration for the show. So from my angle, all the changes they made feel as if they were made for a new audience and not necessarily that familiar trekkie bunch who have a disdain for this film and Trek 09. It’s a shame that people can look at it from one side and not see the fact that these films were never there to please the old fans, but to garner a new following one which has seen new direction and new scores. Giacchino has been asked about his direction and has said that he went into it and wrote music that felt right for this movie, not the wider Trek series. Hopefully Giacchino, who appreciates film scores can eventually release more and more music until a complete score can be salvaged. His C&C’s have been chockablock full of music compared to other releases.

It’s out there!!!
Yes, it’s the second half of that track to b precise. I had another listen to the OST version, the first few seconds of this upload are new and clean, in OST version they’re mixed together with quite a bit of overlap. So yeah, seems legit..
Fair point. Well we’ll see…
Anyway a bit OT but here’s an HD version of that IMAX prologue that played with The Hobbit. i.e. original alt. versions of London Calling, Pranking the Natives and so on… https://vimeo.com/90705719
Rob
Yes, it IS. You’ll just have to take my word for it though.
Seconding this – should be worth the wait.

Wow, it’s so different without the final mix. Less impactful so to say without London Calling!

From what I heard, End Credits Part 2 isn’t in the film. And Ode to Vengeance is the second of the two concert suites that Gia recorded (the first being Ode to Harrison), had a chance to hear it, it’s absolutely awesome, may be even better than Ode to Harrison. I will be SO HAPPY if they play it at the concerts in May (at least the London one)
The bits of music from the official sites that’s unreleased should also be on these. I think I can use some logic and remembering what ISN’T in the film to pair the unreleased tracks to their names:

Also shouldn’t be a surprise that the original London Calling/Pranking the Natives isn’t on there, they "rushed" (to quote Gia from the Enhanced Commentary) the recording of those in November I think at the Bad Robot studios as opposed to the Fox Scoring Stage in time for the December IMAX Prologue release. Then they re-recorded both cues and did the rest at Fox.
Also I hear that the last cue just before the sizzle reel at the end of the IMAX prologue is on these sessions – may be on Undersea Enterprises.
I wouldn’t bet on it. That said, I would not at all be surprised if Varese released a deluxe edition within the year.
