I've got a party of Fighter, Black Mage, Red Mage and Thief (in honour of the great 8 Bit Theatre), and I was wondering as to when they change class into Knight, Black Wizard, Red Wizard and Ninja... I'm currently level 16, so does it have something to do with levels or a certain point in the game?

Its a certain point in the game, when You visit Bahamut. ^_^

Read below if you want a mini walkthrough about it. ;p

After you get the Airship,You can fly it near the Citadel Of Trials(since there is no place to land right next to it.) When you go through the Citadel of Trails and get to the boss and beat him, open the chest in the room to get the Rats Tail! Now You just gotta find Bahamut in the Dragon Caves(on the chain of Islands South West of the Citadel of Trails.) and give it to him. Then your people get to change classes. Yay!

// Upgrading the classes doesn't make much difference to the Fighter and the Mages. Just makes them a bit more powerful. Worth the effort just to do it, but it probably wont make your life easier. ~
// On the other hand, the Black Belt and the Thief get much tougher. They usually arent that much use in a scrap until you upgrade them. You wonldn't need to buy weapons for your Black Belt after this either. ~

IMO, I think its worth it, especially if you have a white mage. Cuz when she turns into White Wizard, you can always slap Masamune on her and she turns into a kick ass fighter. ;)
