OK, now does this contain music NOT on the expanded Music Box editions? I mean I know y'all collect FYC stuff, that's cool. But for non collectors, is there stuff here that is new or different?

I've no idea. This was just thrown into my purchase unexpectedly. I've not even seen the film - let alone listened to the music. I just ripped it in case someone on here might want it. It's definitely not my thing!

Over to someone who knows....

I don't know that score at all Amanda, but it's always worth for you giving a try if only sonically speaking I guess FYC stuff are not mastered like official releases, wich can be a very good thing in some cases...

The FYC version of "The Proposal / Rabbit Chase" has a real choir instead of the synthetic one used in both the OST and the Elfman-Burton Music Box. The edit (http://chrono-score.blogspot.com/2011/04/alice-in-wonderland.html) that I just recently replicated also includes tracks 5, 7-10 and 14 in the body of the score, with 12 and 13 as bonus tracks. Some of those may just be longer or better in some way than similar Music Box tracks, but it was my understanding that many of them are unique to the FYC.

No I don't sorry. Also, I don't really collect film scores in general, mainly bits and pieces of what I like personally - in particular filmed musicals recording sessions and song instrumental tracks.

Same here- to everything you said. I'm also after the Moulin Rouge instrumentals, mainly Can-Can/Sparkling Diamonds and Hindi Sad Diamonds.

I've been after Hanna because I think The Chemical Brothers did an amazing job with it.

I think 'Hindi Sad Diamonds' is avalable via an extra feature on the blu-ray. Will check. I got your Madonna/Die Another Day instrumental by the way and found a link to hundreds of official instrumentals of her album tracks including a couple from 'Evita' (two of which, I posted here).

Incidentally, I ripped this track using Soundforge and noticed it and the previous 14 had been tagged with their corresponding slate numbers (have just updated the track list on the first page with them). Have not seen that before and it might just be the norm with these sorts of things as typically I rip them using Windows Media Player. Will use Soundforge from now on!

Well damn, you're right... Just got around to checking it out this morning and sure enough both Tracks 1 and 4 are "Drink Me". How bizarre. Is this how it was mistakenly pressed as an FYC disc? Or was it messed up when "delivered" to scorehunter66, I wonder?

The correct track is on the OST, so perhaps someone would like to use that and my FYC upload to produce an expanded score or something...

Well yeah, it's no biggie because, as you say, the Main Titles track is readily available... just odd that it was produced that way! Maybe since it was an FYC, it was rushed!

I've no idea as the CD was a freebie thrown in with something I paid over the odds for! I've only skimmed through a couple of the tracks and can say it's not something I'm ever likely to add to my playlist.

Of course it does silly... what we're saying is, on the FYC, both track 1 ("Main Titles") and track 4 ("Drink Me") are in reality the same track, "Drink Me".

Exact Audio Copy (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Exact-Audio-Copy) is prime.
Designed to work personally with individual drives (offset).

I said it before and I'm going to repeat it here:

Making a lot of remastering myslef (and @ Spartank: now at a level much above what I sent to you once, please note ;)), I noticed quite a loss in the sound ripping my CDs with EAC, and this, despite EAC's "compare wavs" tool will confirm my rip to be 'accurately' matching what I have on my hard drive when it comes from it, while I can hear quite some mufling on my rip. So I guess the accuracy concerns mostly the offset matching and nothing else.

Edit: for burning: ditto. EAC seems to add some shin, and in a same time it sounds to me sonically flatter.

One of my friends who knows a bunch about sound enginering who remasters a lot of stuff himself has confirmed EAC not to be that reliable sonically speaking. He get just much better rips with... Itunes !... Oh and btw: you know him, and you pay attention when he speaks about sound.

I have much better results ripping with Foobar2000, wich has the offset correction (it finds it in 0,05sec instead of following a guide as you do for EAC, lol).

We both use Nero for burning.

... So you guys with your EAC... Beware !

I just use Windows Media Player or Sony Soundforge as a rip's a rip at the end of the day...

I don't know. But hearing about the issue is one thing, hearing the issue would worth more imho... mostly for a purist like you are. ;) Also depending on your cache features and stuff like this you may have quite different results, then it may really depend on what you have.

... Still my current rips are that sonically accurate in comparison that I wonder why spending a full hour setting something like EAC. :-/

I'm pretty sure it's been re-upped in some of the other LOTR threads.
Try the "complete" and 5.1 threads. People just throw links all around in the other threads.

Hi I've taken a look and I can't find it. It's from the non-complete-recordings and is a bonus track, hence why I think it's quite hard to get ahold of! FLAC itself it a tad more rarer. If you are able to find the file I'd be very grateful !

:doc::doc::doc:

I've actually been contemplating starting a tech thread.

Start off with a list of programs people use for various things and various operating systems.
some snippets of info and commonly known debatable topics.

Just not sure where to start the thread. Maybe the help section, maybe GD or maybe in this forum.

Arial
04-06-2013, 07:14 PM
I would have started it myself a long time ago if I was especially in tech questions, but I'm not. I just had a long way to learn how not to mess it, and I'm not trying a handful of softwares besides. And I'm not very well equiped neither.

... I would ask the mods to stick it: nowhere else but in the download section ! ... Think about it: your neighbour doesn't even know how to burn an audio CD and will perform it at 52x !... It really does belong to that section then, imo.
