This thread is for anyone who might be confused about the various endings, such as how to get them, what the reward is, etc. I will try to explain things in as much detail as possible without spoiling things:


Section 1 - What the Endings Are

Normal Ending: You get this ending if you don't satisfy any of the special requirements. This ending is generally considered to be the least satisyfing ending, other than the "Bad Ending." You get one FMV that sort of wraps things up, followed by the closing credits sequence. You are then given a screen with your characters' levels and the number of times you've beaten the game, followed by the option to start "New Game Plus."

Normal Ending Extension - This ending is just like the previous one, except that a certain something special happens after the Chapter 5 Complete tag, but before the FMV starts. You can only get this extension if you do not qualify for a Good or Perfect Ending.

Good Ending - Following everything that I described in the Normal Ending, there is another FMV. This FMV is very important and is well worth your time. After that FMV, you get the stats screen and New Game Plus option as described above.

Perfect Ending - Everything is exactly like described in the Good Ending, except following that last FMV, you get an add-on scene that is not an FMV. It's a very short scene and if you saw the Good Ending, then it really doesn't add much, but major fans will probably find it worth the time.

Bad Ending - You get a scene of destruction, followed by a Game Over. This is a standard Game Over that will dump you back to the loading screen without any fanfare.


Section 2 - How to Get the Endings

Normal Ending - Do nothing special. Don't complete at least one of the requirements described in the Good / Perfect ending sections. Even if you have 100% completion, it is possible to get this ending if you do not complete certain special requirements within the game where you are trying to get a Perfect Ending.

Normal Ending Extension - Exactly like above, except after the Chapter 5 Complete tag, when Yuna is alone, start tapping X like crazy until an event activates. Note that you absolutely can not get this if you qualify for the requirements for a Good Ending because then something else will happen as described below.

Good Ending - There are three requirements that I am absolutely certain you must do. In Chapter 3, visit the mansion in Guadosalam and complete the mission to meet with Maechen there. You must complete it to its conclusion, hearing everything he has to say. At the end of the Chapter 3, when Yuna is all alone on the Farplane, start tapping X like crazy until you've heard whistling four times and are "led" out of the Farplane. Finally, after the Chapter 5 Complete tag, start hitting "X" like crazy and when the Fayth shows up and asks you a question, choose the first option. If you choose the second option, you will end up activating the Normal Ending.

Here are the two requirements I am not absolutely sure of: get Episode Complete in Luca and Besaid. I've read varying reports on whether you actually need to do those or not, but I'm going to check to find out for sure.

Perfect Ending - You need to have 100% completion on one savefile. This can be achieved either in one game (not recommended) or in more than one playthrough, most easily by giving the Awesome Sphere to the group you didn't give it to before in your first playthrough. Then, within the playthrough that you are trying to get the Perfect Ending, you must also complete the requirements described above for a Good Ending. (Again, since I'm not sure about the Besaid and Luca requirements, it would probably be best to do them, just be on the safe side, until I can confirm otherwise.) If you don't also complete those, then you will end up getting the Normal Ending (or Normal Ending Extension), even if you have 100%. Be careful!

Bad Ending - During the final battle with the boss weapon, either sit and do nothing for a very long time, or simply allow your characters to get killed.

If you're just looking for a script, you can find that at the Final Fantasy X-2 section at GameFAQs. If you're looking for a video, you might not have as much luck because the Perfect Ending (at least the last segment) isn't an FMV, it's just a game scene.

To get the Perfect Ending with 100% from more than one game, you don't have to complete any of the following in that game:

- Besaid
- Luca
- Zanarkand


All you have to do is talk with Maechen in Chapter 3 (hear everything he has to say) and complete the whistling by pressing X when Yuna is alone on the farplane at the end of Chapter 3.

So if I have a file I'm playing through the second time all I have to do is give the awesome sphere to the other group, talk to Maechen, and press X? ....wow I didn't know that I've been replaying it so many times trying to get a better ending :shock: I didn't realize that you could get the perfect ending this way.

That's absolutely correct. Just so long as you already have enough for giving it to the other group to push you to or above 100% (anything above 100% is recorded as simply 100%), you'll be good to go.

Well i beat the game the first time with 93%. But i wanna get 100% now. well the first time i gave the sphere to the youth league, do i have to give it to new yevon this time to get 100%??

No, you don't have to give it to New Yevon to get 100% the second time around, but it will help a lot. If you give it to the Youth League again, then you have to be very meticulous in making sure that you complete everything that adds to percentage that you missed before. Giving it to New Yevon the second time around is rather like a "safety net" because it assures that you definitely will get some extra percentage.

hey skittles, if you search online for a walkthrough (don't know anylinks now) then i'm sure that you can find a walkthrough to get you 100%. that's what i did. although i couldn't defeat thoughs guys in the tomb at bevelle. good luck!

I have the perfect ending in English that I got off the web. It's from the site called Square Nation. I got the good ending in English from filefront.com also from FFX-2.Net.

Also, to get at least the good ending you also have to go to the place where Tidus taught Yuna how to whistle in chapter three and the laughing scene. I can't remember if it was in chapter 2 or 3 but I think it's supposed to be 3 in Luca. I know it's in Luca, though.

I gave the sphere to the Youth League and I ended up with %100. You probably missed something. Go to square-x.com and go to the Jessie Cox walkthrough. It's probably the best as far as I know. That's the one I used and I got %100 my first time.

I think you forgot an ending Not sure if it is real or just something made up but its called the monkey ending. instructions are on the official x-2 site (which seems to be down atm) without spoilers so it is probably real

Funny, the second time I played and got 100% including pressing x in the Farplane, I did not get the perfect ending. I think it was because I skipped most of the side missions.
When I replayed it a third time doing everything including the little things, I received the Perfect Ending.
Maybe it was just a bug.

I don't think you absolutely have to, so long as you're able to gain enough percentage from giving the sphere to a different group. Just make sure to give it to the different group in New Game Plus and make sure to do all segments and Commsphere scenes related to the two groups. If that absolutely doesn't work, then maybe you do have to do the Via Infinito. Sorry.

How many % can you get? I know that it never will show more than 100.

Yeah, that'll work. Just make sure you hear the whistling and see Yuna being "led" by the image of Tidus out of the Farplane Abyss.

to get the good ending, press x during the farlplane glen scene at the end of chapter five, after u beat vegnagun(will happen after the credits.) To get the perfect ending, just beat the game with 100% complete and press the x button discribed like above.

i watched my friend get the perfect ending, it was awesome *dances* your info helped her a lot too.

Unusual. I'm 3/4 through via Infinito, and I still got 82%.

The Via Infinito doesn't give all that much percentage. It'll help, but you still have to do other stuff too.

Yes, Thats Very Important. Don't Forget To Press X And Talk to Bahamut's Fayth Before You Leave the Farplane at the End. Otherwise They'll Just Walk On Outta There..I Think.

I've Completed the Episode in Luca but not in Zanarkand and Baside! It says ''Episode Conculed'' So i wont see the good ending now or what? omg...

An Episode Concluded means you won't see the perfect ending because you will not see the scene with the Mascot Dressphere. Episode Complete, means you have done all the missions in that area from chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Episode Concluded means you have missed something

But i have talked to the old man maechen, and done the whistling scene in the farplane and Luca, so i will see the good ending or?

as long as you press x in the far plane, you should. whats your percentage? i had like 90% and i got to see the "good" ending. i have 100% now and seen he "secret" ending.

Yeah, you should be okay FurY. Like xdistant said, the important thing then is you want to hit X when Yuna is in the Farplane at the very end of the game, and make sure respond Yes when the Fayth asks you a question.

I always press ''X'', So try use X.

Some of the guides say O because you're required to press O in the Japanese version of the game. Apparently their controls are different --- something which I found out when I played the Playstation U.S. version of FFVII because apparently they hadn't realized at that point the U.S. players are used to using X as the "OK" type button --- I had reassign the controls. As long you're playing the U.S. version (and possibly the International version, although I'm not entirely sure about that one), go with X.

Thankyou I needed to know that beacause I am quite near chapter 3 where you first go into the farplane ( I think thats in chapter 3?) Any way I would also like to know Did they make that Shuiyn guy look like Tidus on Purpose??

I'll just say that as you get through more of the game, that's a question that should answer itself pretty easily.

I'm not bothered by the different endings as telling about them will spoil the experenice of the gamers as it could put preasure on them to get the ending what they want instead of finding out themselves.

I couldn't be bothered to get any other endings, so i just got the tidus one straight away =)

You're looking to download the ending video? I dunno what to tell you. That sort of thing can be really hard to find. There are pictures over at the main FFShrine site, but that's the best you're gonna get at this site. I dunno where it would be. Anyone else have any ideas?

supposedly the owner of the tidus and yuna tribute page on yahoo, has it in english. But I can't find it there, even after I joined that group. SO....maybe someone else can help me out

Via Infinito doesn't add anything to your completed score no matter how far u get (exept crimson spheres). Info from piggyback guide.

Just a suggestion........
On the P2P software "Bearshare" you can get all sorts of FFX-2 scenes, inclouding secret ending scenes, ff music tracks etc. I use Bearshare a lot and its pretty reliable.

At the end of tha game, once you've actually beaten Vegnagun, you'll see a scene where Yuna, Rikku and paine are walking through the flowers in the Farplane, you press "X" to hear a whistle. Press "X" again to hear another whistle, and a Fayth will appear, thanking Yuna and asking her whether she wants to see "Him" again. reply "Yes!" and you'll get a better ending after the closing credits. It's a really nice ending to the game.
