Hmmm.....as far as I can remember, it was either Sonic The Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe (all on Megadrive) or Mario Land (on Gameboy). I've been playing games as long as I can remember (since about 4 or 5 i think)

The very first game I played, was on the very first console I had, the Vectrex made by Milton Bradley. The game was the default game in it's internal memory, Minestorm. Simple idea, 1 fighter, blowing up mines as they approached your ship. Each level got progressivley harder, what with homing mines, mines which fire at you. Everytime you destroyed one mine, it burst into two smaller ones. destroy one of them and it split into two even smaller ones. Destroy them then, and they're gone, but it was a hectic paced game.
Thing is, even now, I still have this machine and yes, it's still in good working order too.

Either Tetris or Super Mario Land for the Gameboy. I forget which one I took the most interest in on Christmas Day all those years ago. :)
Zork!
I didn't play it much, but yeah that was probably my first game... if you could consider it a game.
Then tons and tons of Atari 2600 Games... can't remember which one I played first.

Smurfs on the Colecovision. One of the all time worst games ever made, but it's fun when your four years old. Sometimes I still play it just for the warm fuzzy memories.

I really have no idea what my very first game was but I think it was probably MetroidII for Gameboy, Super Mario for Gameboy, Super Mario for nintendo or Metal Gear Solid for Nintendo. I got an Atari when SNES came out though so it wasn't any of those.

My first game was Master Blaster for the NES, a boy in search of his mutated pet frog. Little action platformer in a rover-esque tank. Along with that there was the obvious Tetris and also Paper-boy. A myriad of games followed and RPG's grew to dominate my gaming life.

I missed out on the 2600. My family didn't get a system until Nintendo in 87, and before that, most everything I played was in an arcade or with my cousin. He had a famicom in 85 or 86 when I had my first go at Mario and ice climber and the older games, but even before that he had a very sweet Tabletop Space Invaders unit. I don't remember if I had made it to a chuck e cheese or something before I played that. My first game may have actually been whatever that old racing game from the early 80s was. I'm kicking myself now for not remembering =\ I'd love to have that(space invaders unit) now. I have no idea how he ended up with it. Probably related to being very spoiled.
Police Quest on the PC.
That's a pretty odd one to start with.

It's hard to say SMB/DH because they came with the system, however the first game purchased after the original Nintendo would be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - which I sware is one of the hardest games ever.

My first game ever, was on some crappy computer running at like 10mhz!
It was Mother Goose. It took 13 something old fairytales, and each little tale had an important item mixed up with another tale. So your job was to make all the tales right again, by taking one item and bring it back to it's rightfull place.
I spend alot of hours with this game, specially because I couldn't understand English aswell back then as I can now.

Seriously, in 1st Grade we had this game on 1 out of the 15 computers in the room and I always wanted to play it.
I got like a 20 minute go at it before the other kids were bitching.
I loved that game.
I never knew anyone else had ever played it.

'Dread Dragon Droom'.
It was a sort of edutainment game that I played on a BBC Micro at my primary school. I was so young that I barely remember anything about it. The first game I played on a computer that I owned was a game called 'Pedro' on my 48K Sinclair Spectrum.
That is unless you count 'Zip Zap' which I tried to load first, but didn't work! :D

I really have no idea. My family was really into video gaming, so we had a lot of PC games - mostly educational stuff. We had a Nintendo, but I don't remember playing it. So my first exposure to consoles was either Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo. I played a lot of SNES because my other relatives each had one, too. But my first video game was probably an educational PC game.

This seems as good a time as any to ask this - I never really understood the stigma surrounding Thread Necromancy.
I get that some moderators don't like it, and if so then I'm fine playing by the house rules. Its just that I never saw the problem with it - I mean, so what if you answer to a very old thread? Who cares? How exactly is it hurting anyone?

I personally hate thread necromancy... Instead of reviving a dead thread and continuing something a member (who more than likely no longer comes to the forum now), creating a new thread allows for new conversations regarding a similar topic to the original. I admit I've been away longer than I thought, otherwise I would've closed this thread... but for now, I'll allow it to stay open.
Also, the majority of thread necromancy is by new members, solely for boosting their post count so they can have access to PM privileges... and their responses are in general rather inane, nonsensical and aren't on topic.
If I remember right, Spy Hunter (Arcade). I think that was before Number Munchers (Apple II). First console game was probably Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt.
