From the tracklist this just looks like the 'old' expanded, with the 'old' NG-S demos added to it.

Thanks for sharing. Both my dad and I bought the original score release on import CD for something like 30 each back in '96. Severely short changed, but an awesome listen. I remember listening to it on my Walkman on the bus to school!

First things first, thank you very much Lockdown!
Secondly, I did a comparison, and the version I have is basically the exact same thing as this (only not in FLAC) except the version I have has an extra track labeled "Fort Walton, Kansas (alt.)/End Title Suite (alt.)". Is this "extra" track a fake or something weird like that???

Good question. All I can is that The Rock is a clusterfuck of a score. I'm definitely a fan, but it's just a disaster as far as all the releases

Not so much of a clusterfuck really once you check out all the different editions. Despite the numerous editions, the content varies very little between them UNLIKE Clint Mansell's Sunshine. There are 3 editions I know of: this one which is more along the lines of what I imagined the recording sessions would sound like (each track split up) while another expanded score features almost the same track listing but cues go right into the next cue on that edition versus completely fading out and ending. Also, the 2nd edition has that extra track that Jasonjhn8 was referring to. Can't vouch for whether it's authentic or fake because honestly, I never listened to it. Editions 1 and 2 run more or less the same length but the actual main bulk of the score for the 2nd edition is shorter due to the inclusion of the 6 minute alternate version of Fort Walton, Kansas/End Title Suite. There's a 3rd edition (Hans-Zimmer.com - The Rock (Complete Score) (
http://www.hans-zimmer.com/index.php?rub=disco&id=639)) which I have yet to see. It contains 6 extra tracks from the 1st edition and 14 from the 2nd with an increase in running time by 12 minutes to 107.
The one that Lockdown posted is my preferred version so this is the one I will recommend but I'm sure there are those of you just jonesing for those 12 extra minutes. I'll leave you to that quest.

Wow, I'd sure like to hear the edition that you linked to. Has anyone come across this in FLAC? I'm a huge fan of this score and silly as it sounds, those extra 12 minutes would make my day!

Clint Mansell's Sunshine
Why do people keep doing that in this forum?
Clint Mansell never did Sunshine.
The one forum where people have OCD and other things going on...

FYI, you can go on John Murphy's official facebook fan page and ask him if Clint Mansell did the music to Danny Boyle's Sunshine.
He correct you.
And probably tell you that you're thinking of the trailer.
Which isn't always using music from the film.

This is the first time I've seen someone (mistakenly) stating Sunshine is Clint Mansell. Apparently people have done it before?

Oops. Forgot to thank for this release.
I'll add it to the collection and give it a listen.
IMO, this one of the soundtracks that can never be over played.

Sunshine (TV Movie 1973) - John Denver, Hal Mooney
Sunshine (1999) - Maurice Jarre
Sunshine (2007) - John Murphy & Underworld
It seems Clint Mansell scored for the trailer, according to Wikipedia.. "and trailers for the films Zathura, The Da Vinci Code,[4] Sunshine, Babylon A.D. and the TV series Lost and Top Gear"

Yes, but no Clint Mansell

That's the incredibly over-used (butchered nearly to death) "Winter, Lux Aerterna" from Mansell's Requiem for A Dream - a terrible film that I never need to see again
