Played this game, got sick of it. Gimme a decent game any day. Sports game i would prefer. Or a good shoot em up game like the matrix! what are your thoughts?

If you think Final Fantasy is boring, I agree. I found Final Fantasy VI way better.

Actually, if you want to get right down to it and really talk about it, there are a lot of things within Final Fantasy games, that are boring. Repeated chocobo-racing in FFVII? Boring. Trying to navigate the mobile garden in FFVIII? Boring. Lightning dodging in FFX? Damn boring, and annoying to boot. The point is that even though there are some things that are boring, you come to love the games anyway... or maybe you don't. It just depends on what your cup of tea is, I guess.

sports games and the matrix...gimme a regular ff game any day. even the one that i own (messed up--you fight really hard enemies at the beginning of the game).

when you say FF is boring do you mean the whole series or FF1 because if you meant the whole series then why are you posting in an FF forum?

Ok umm...everyone??? That is a friend of mine (like an ACTUAL friend) He thinks all Final Fantasy is gay and was bored in Computer class so he joined this site. He's right, Final Fantasy is boring. That is, boring if you suck at battle tactics, and if you hate reading. Which is where all the storyline comes from anyway, dialogue.

It isn't that he sucks at battle tactics he just doens't like the fact that you don't control the attacks. He likes more hack and slash where you actually do the attack instead of telling a character to. He liked Pokemon but he said he thinks since it was on Game-boy it was not a good game and games like it aren't good.

Hey thanx ole land lordy. But yeah i have played them before. They are stupid. None of the hands on action that makes your fingers hurt. It would be cool if you got to do some of the fighting like the Lord of the rings games. ALL you get to do on these games is hit attack and stupid stuff like that. Land Lord u friend seems like a real jerk, and if he has nothing better to do than post topics about a game he doesnt like on a forum based on the game i think he has alot of time on his hand maybe he can do something that helps everyone and jump off a bridge of some sort. Okay, now we all know that this is a friend of Landlord's, and Landlord has said often enough that he's a clever guy (I still don't believe him though) and this supposedly clever guy has said often enough that Final Fantasy is boring.

And now I'd suggest you bring some new stuff into this discussion. For example, do what Agent0042 suggested, and make this a serious discussion about which elements of the FF series you find boring and suggestions how to improve this.

And if Ur_DuMb_Im_NoT isn't able to participate in such a discussion, he can stay out of it.

I think the most boring thing ever in any FF is trying to get ahead of the game by leveling up in random encounters for hours and hours and hours.

Well...it is trash. Final Fantasy is super great for me and I would rather played rpg than sports. Its all about the gameplay, characters, storyline, battle system...whateva.

I don't know about that DevilHunter. You may think he is young so therefore he is not good but that is what many people think about him at arguing and at Age of Empires lol. I have seen him completely whoop up on guys that were like 35 years old and I've seen him argue with his parents (just joking of course) and he left them speechless or else his dad has to resort to shut up.

Perhaps they shut up because they just couldn't think of any way to seriously respond to that level of idiocy? If you can't discuss specific aspects of Final Fantasy which are boring, like the "you don't control the actual attack itself" aspect, then this will be closed.

An unrelated question for Landlord's friend: Do you at least enjoy the Legacy of Kain games?

If you do, then you should know that the FF games have similar depths to the storyline, and that is their main focus. Telling a story, the battle engine is just something to give people to do while they watch the movies/read the story/listen to the dialogue.

And as has been said, you could always play Kingdom Hearts, if you prefer the hack and slash style of gameplay. Though, if you really want to talk about sports games or games with no real story to them at all, but are a hand-eye-coordination challenge. Then go to the General Gaming forums here.

He hasn't really played any RPG's except for Pokemon. And I don't find anything wrong with the you don't control them aspect even though it WOULD be cool if you had to do like certain button combos and such things (like overdrives on X) to determine what the strenght of the attack or magic etc. would be.

Things within Final Fantasy that bore me...

I'll be honest: A LOT of the mini-games held no interest for me, because I want to know what happens within the storyline. Mini-games does not encompass the story, in most cases. Sphere Break in FFX-2 was part of the sidequest that extended the story, so it was an exception. But nowadays, with time limited as it is for me, I want to see the end of the story as fast as possible.

I didn't like either of the card games in FF8 and 9. Just a personal thing, I felt that some of the rules and stuff were just too random.

There are some elements that I wish could be different. The battle system is very same-y throughout, it's Classic FF, you know it's FF from the ATB "wait, choose action, wait, choose action." A little bit of real time is quite nice (even the "press R1 to add extra damage to Squall's attack" was cool.)

Summons... They tend to be the same. You select 'em, they appear, do their thing, and then vanish. FFX's Aeons were cool in that you controlled them rather than they appeared and disappeared. I wouldn't mind an idea of just having one main character for a time that summons a party based on your choosing at the start of the battle (two Bahamuts, two Ifrits, etc.) Then you control them as a party. Heck, they even level up as your party.

Ultimately, it's the storyline that keeps me hooked to these games. There's something about the story that just digs deep and I can cope with the crap in the games to find the outcome of the story.

True most of the mini-games are indeed boring. I also hate that you have to level up so much to defeat a certain boss(hours of training). The battle system could be improved, but whatever. Land lord find him some rpgs to play other than pokemon. Though some shooting are cool(Halo). But sports games, capitol B-boring.

I would be more than happy to have him play some RPG's but he wont touch them. I told him some are the way he likes but he won't listen. And sports games aren't alllll boring I mean I like TH games and Madden and NBA games too.

Zephi, at the moment, you cant download FF. Well except, for those saved games for the PC version..

he says he doesn't like it bescause you can't control their movements in battle, but it's not about the battles if you wanted to play a game like that try tekken or some other beat-em-up.

Can we stop talking about Landlord's retarded friend and concentrate on what people dont like about FF. The things i don't like about FF, well i can't think of many but i will say that they shouldn't have got ridden of the world map for FF10+ also the weapons need a revamp, they should have like different varietys of weapons like Mace's and spears instead of always the main chracter having i sword.

He'll enjoy any of those games. He'll also like the Baldur's Gate variants. You control the actual attacks.

well, i don't find much boring in ff, especially since i leveled up at the beginning of ff7 for 30 hours straight...but if i had to choose something boring, i would have to say... well, leveling up in fft is pretty boring...and this is not really something that is boring, but i hate that everything levels up with you on ff8, sure i love a good challenge but i still havent beaten ff8 yet because i screwed myself over in 3 files now, im finally at the ultemecia battle and i cant beat it because im at level 100, and then theres the fact that the weapons suck on ff8 and they make you rely on gfs, i have the lionheart and i still cant manage 3000 damage at level 100. And (I know, getting off topic, sorry) does anyone know why i can't get limit breaks? i even used an aura spell and i didnt get it...

Hmm, sounds to me like you never really figured out FFVIII's Junction / Draw system. Did you tell Quistis off when she offered you a tutorial? You need to go out and get yourself a bunch of good magic spells like Meltdown and Meteor and Flare and other strong stuff and get it junctioned up. That's how you get strong in FFVIII. As for limits, if you have one available, you'll hear a little chime sound and then you specifically have to select it. You might want to look up the tutorial on that too because limits in FFVIII work rather differently than some of the other games.

Yeah for limit breaks it doesn't always come up right away. Try pressing the button to switch turns to someone else a few times until you hear that sound and there is an arrow on the attack command. Press the directoin of the arrow and it will be a limit break.

i'll try that, and i know how the game works, junctioning is easy, i've maxed out my hp, speed , and strength with it, and it doesnt help much.

I don't think maxed them, or else I can assure you, Lionheart should not being less than 3000 damage at that level.

255 is maxed, right? oh and btw, i wasnt talking about the limit lionheart, just the weapon and its regular attack, but i guess it might be because of the defence of the enemies that i'm fighting, but i really cant beat the game, i got to the third form of Griever after taking out ultimecia and i took my chances with not healing for one turn and got slaughtered, and the battle was already taking me an hour and a half, if the pheonix pinion really does cast an autolife style spell, how can i get it?

If I remember right, you can get one Pheonix Pinion for every 100 mega pheonixes. You can also get one if you do the side quest at Shumi Village (look it up it's not too easy) And, when you attack do you pull the trigger cause that can make A LOT of difference on attack.

ya, i do the trigger, thats why i'm confused, on my first file, i thought the file was just screwed up, but its the same on all my files... it pisses me off too, ff8 is such a good game.

Well the lionheart (the sword) should be doing around 7896 (with the trigger) against slightly tough enemies but on weak ones it should be doing around 9999. Also to take out Ultimecia i say get Eden by drawing it of Ultima weapon or taimat and one more thing cast aura on Squall so he can do his Renzokuken against Ultimecia and occasionly Lionheart. What level is your Squall?

Here's my advice: before taking on any enemy, cast a Meltdown spell on it. That usually helps a lot. That includes all of Ultimecia's forms. As for Ultimecia, be careful when you get to some of those more powerful forms, you definitely want to be ready on the healing when Shockwave Pulsar and Hell's Judgment are pulled out.

What is Tiamat? It isn't a GF is it? I know there are cards of it that I have gotten before but what is it because it sounds like incubus is saying it is a GF.

No of course he is not a GF. He is a boss in Ultimecia's castle in the bell tower. :whatever:

and to incubus, i have eden, but it takes forever to level up, i think mine is at level 44, and Squall, Zell, Selphie, and Quistis are all at level 100. i dont remember what level Rinoa and Irvine are though. anyway, does anyone know a good way of leveling up eden? if i get around 400 exp, even if eden does the final blow for everything, it still gets only around 50 exp...is there any place that i could quickly level up Eden?

Well if you are able to leave the castle go to cactuar island and I don't know if that helps level them up but it gives you tons of AP.

i already have all their abilities, i just need to level them up, and i also only get 2 more compatibility with eden per summon, am i supposed to be getting such low compatibility each time?

Eden is a pain to level up, but really though, you shouldn't need Eden for the final battle. I never did. Tell you what? Did you ever complete the card sidequest? If so, then perhaps you have the Gilgamesh card. If you do, just use Card Mod on it and you'll get a bunch of Holy Wars. Just toss those during the final battle and you don't even need to worry about it, if you just want to see the ending.

Seriously though - 2 compatibility? Seems like your game is really messed up.

It's in the scan description, which reads "Used to be a GF. Became a monster under Ultimecia's power. Its Dark Flare destroys all enemies."

Agent0042 is right it says that Taimat used to be a GF but this time you have to fight him.
